Lauren
I stared at her, becoming entranced by her brown eyes. They were lighter than Normani's and it made my head pound with even more pain as I thought about my girlfriend who was probably at the apartment, worrying about where I was. It was like I could see her sitting on the couch, texting my phone that was currently lost in the large house. She would tell herself to wait for another ten minutes before she would eventually call my mother, explaining that I had left the apartment and hadn't came back. It hurt to think about her. It hurt to think about anything while the lights flashed and the music blared through the room. It was crowded with bodies and I felt myself moving closer to her because I didn't want to be touched by anyone else.
I knew I was making the wrong decision. I knew this was going to bite me in the butt in the future but I was too drunk to tell myself no. She was sitting right here, her eyes glued to mine as I took a deep breath. She looked at me with a deep gaze that seemed to reach out, and pull me right to her. Slowly, I leaned forward and connected my lips with hers.
-Eleven Hours Earlier-
I woke up to an empty bed and an empty apartment. Normani wasn't anywhere I looked and it took me a few minutes before I remembered that she said she had to be at the surf shack today so I was alone. I got up and went to the bathroom, getting ready for the day like usual before helping myself to the cereal in the kitchen. I ate alone in silence as the wind whistled through the palm trees outside. It was peaceful, but it wasn't enjoyable without Normani.
Once I was done, I cleaned the kitchen and went across the hallway, knocking on my best friends door. I waited for a moment before it opened and I looked at Royce in confusion. He was standing halfway behind the door for some reason and looked a bit annoyed.
"Is there someone in there with you?" I asked as I tried to look around Royce who smiled nervously and shook his head.
"Of course not! Is this important Lauren? I'm kinda busy-"
"Hey babe, what are you doing?! I thought we were gonna shower!" An unfamiliar voice exclaimed and I watched as Royce's cheeks turned red and I laughed.
"Damn. You be getting some Royce. I guess I'll leave you alone," I told him as I backed up.
"Wait Lauren. No," he tried to stop me but I was already walking down the hallway as his lover shouted for him.
"Bye! Love you!" I yelled as Royce was pulled into his apartment and I laughed to myself as I went down the stairs.
Once I was outside, I started walking to the Cabello's restaurant, deciding I wanted to see Camila. I smiled and greeted those who I passed on the sidewalk, passing little words or greetings as I walked. I looked around at the red and orange brick buildings that made up the town. I realized I might have trouble leaving this place when college came because it really was home. It was beautiful and I had good memories here.
I reached the restaurant and went inside, greeting Alejandro like usual before going to the back to see Camila. I smiled as I snuck up behind her, pressing my hands over her eyes so she couldn't see me.
"Mami?" Camila asked in confusion as I chuckled. "Lauren," she confirmed and turned around, a smile on her lips as I removed my hands.
"How did you know?" I asked as she hugged me tightly before laughing and throwing her head back in humor.
"I don't know. I heard you laugh and I just knew," she answered and shrugged as I nodded and looked around. "So, what's up Jauregay? What do you need?"
"Well I was bored and wanted to hang out with you. When do you get off of work?"
"Actually, I don't even have work today. I just came because my mami is planning something special for my dad tonight and I wasn't allowed to be home."
