Normani
I sat at my desk, looking through my written schedule as Dinah sat on the bed next to me, eating an apple. My eyes wandered over to my girlfriend who was looking down at her phone, scrolling through Twitter. Her eyes flickered up to meet mine and she smiled at me, setting her apple down, but not her phone of course. I had learnt that Dinah really loved her phone.
"So, they're throwing a party in the building next door at eight on the fourth floor. You wanna go?" I asked as she tapped her chin.
"Hmm, somewhere, with you?" She spoke, getting off the bed to straddle me. There was a bright smile that I got to see everyday as she nodded and leaned down, pressing a kiss to my lips. "That sounds fun. I would love to," she gave me her answer, just looking down at me before kissing me again.
"Alright. Well, go get ready then," I told her, slightly hitting her butt as she laughed and got off, going to her closet.
"You got it babe," she replied and picked out an outfit that was a bit more presentable than her shirt and sweatpants. I watched her disappear into into the bathroom and I spun around in my chair, opening my laptop up.
I went to chrome, opening the application that had one to many tabs still open. Logging into my email, I noticed I had two unopened mails so I clicked on the first one, not surprised that it was a spam.
I blocked the address and deleted it before moving to the next email that I hadn't expected at all. It was from Michael, as in Michael Jauregui.
Hesitantly, I opened it and was shocked by what I saw. There was a scholarship payment of thousands of dollars and at the top, it was titled "Surgery Money" in the subject. I shook my head, not wanting to accept it as I scrolled down to see a little note.
Thank you for paying for the surgery when we did not have the available funds Normani. It meant a lot but your act can not go untreated. I would like to pay for your first years of college because of what you did for our daughter. Although you are not together anymore, I am thankful that we had you in our life and we will forever be in your debt. If there is ever anything else you need, please contact me. This scholarship is one that my father, the CEO of Jauregui Automotrices, offers every semester and is presented with an award at the end of the year.
Thank you.
-Michael Jauregui
I was in tears as the bathroom door opened and I slowly shut the laptop before I felt Dinah's hand on my shoulder. "Babe, you okay?" She asked and I nodded, really having an issue accepting the Jauregui's scholarship.
Standing up, I turned towards her and smiled softly. "I just um...I received news that I got a scholarship that will take me through my first four years," I explained and she grinned.
"That's amazing Normani! I'm so happy for you!" She exclaimed and hugged me tightly as I buried my head in her shoulder. Her hands ran over my back as I thought about Lauren. This was more than a fair payment. It was probably eight times the amount I had to withdraw for her surgery and really, I didn't want it.
Lauren and I were over yet I seemed to keep getting pulled back to her. When I saw her in the hallway this afternoon, my heart panicked and if Dinah weren't there, I was sure I would've ran right to her. Not wanting to feel this way was hard but when I told her I would love her forever, I wasn't lying. She still had me.
