Normani

When I woke up, I was surprised to find Lauren across the bed, half of her body hanging off the king size mattress with the comforter tangled around her pale legs. I smiled slightly as she shifted, her hand still clasping onto my wrist slightly.

I looked at the clock to see that it was six o'clock and like usual, my body had woken up automatically since I was used to getting up to go to work. I had to be there at seven and it wouldn't take me long to get ready so I sat up, crawling to Lauren to pull her up. I don't know how long she had been laying like that but it was clearly a talent to not fall off in the process.

Once I got her back onto the bed so her head was resting on a pillow, I laid the back of my hand on her forehead, glad to feel that her fever had also broken. Deciding it would be nice to let her sleep, I got up and went into the bathroom, closing the door to get ready. I took my pajamas off and stepped into the shower, turning on the water.

The water turned cold and I stood with my back to the nozzle, letting the water run down my body. Once my hair was wet, I washed it with the shampoo and sighed contently as I felt the water cool my body. Eventually, I finished washing my body and hair before I got out and wrapped a towel around my body.

I opened the door, smiling as I saw that Lauren was clutching my discarded hoodie to her chest tightly, as if someone may try to take it away. She was still sleeping so I went to my closet and put on my bikini before pulling a shirt and shorts over my swimsuit. Leaving her in the dark bedroom, I walked down the hallway and into the kitchen, seeing a note on the counter. I picked it up, reading that my mom had to go into work today instead of working from home and that she would probably be home late and so would my dad.

Turning on the stove, I put a pan on and got some eggs out to make breakfast. I cooked some food before filling two plates as I waited for Lauren to wake up. I figured in about fifteen minutes, I would go get her up so we could eat and then go to the beach if she didn't wake up on her own.

After I finished making breakfast, I slid the two plates onto the table and cleaned the pan and spatula. I watched the news for awhile, trying to understand what they were saying till Lauren finally walked in.

"Good morning," I greeted as she smiled and sat next to me, looking down at the plate of food.

"Morning. Did you make breakfast?" She asked, taking a bite as I turned the tv off.

"Yep. Does it taste good?"

"Mhm. Thank you Mani." I smiled and nodded, eating my breakfast as Lauren did too. "Are we going to the beach today?" She asked as she scooped up the last of her eggs.

"Well I am. I have to run the shop but you don't have to come if you don't want to."

"Of course I do. Come on, let's go get ready." After I placed our dishes in the sink, we went back to my room and I slipped my flip flops on, pointing to the bathroom.

"You can shower and wear something from my closet."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I'll be in the living room if you need anything."

"Okay. Thank you."

I walked down the hallway to the living room and sat down, looking up at all the pictures of our family. I really missed my grandma but hopefully I would get to see her this year. I needed to call her and see if she could come for the summer this month since it was so beautiful and warm outside.
