"What do you mean he was trying to kill me?!"

"Miss Jauregui, you were the heir to Jauregui Automotrices. If you died before your grandfather passed away, then he would have no choice other than to give the company to your father or brother."

I stared at the private investigator in shock, not believing that my father had really planned on letting me die so Chris could have the company. "And the bank accounts? There was sufficient money to pay for the surgery?" I questioned as the man nodded and frowned.

"I'm sorry to say but, yes. He purposely kept it out of your way to make sure you died and wouldn't be able to find out," the private investigator answered as I processed everything.

It had been a few months and the company was running smoothly. I went back to therapy with Dr. Hernandez and I recovered from the loss of my abuelito. My relationship with Normani had grown to well, new things I guess you could say. We were dating and things were going great for us.

It had only been a few weeks ago that I had hired the man to look into things and unveil the truth. It was sickening to be honest.

"Whoever paid for your surgery, you should be thankful. They saved your life. Literally Miss Jauregui," he told me and I nodded, knowing I already did.

Normani had changed my life forever. She was the one for me and I was confident about that. We were meant to be together.

"Yeah. I do..." I mumbled. "That was all Mr. Simpson. Thank you for everything. I assume you received the payment? It was enough?"

"Well...you know, a new 2018 Leopardo would be rather nice to add-"

"Get out of my office."

"Yes ma'am." He nodded his head and I offered a fake smile before standing up and leading him to the door. "Have a nice day Miss Jauregui."

I closed the door, knowing I wouldn't be seeing him again. After going back to my desk, my phone rang and I answered, holding the landline phone to my ear as I spun around in my chair. I was looking over Mexico City that viewed quite spectacular in the moonlight.

"Hello?" I answered, kicking my feet up onto the table next to the window wall.

"Hey baby," Normani's voice crossed, followed by a drink of whatever she had. Taking my chances of it being water and hopefully not something that could stain, I messed with her.

"Hi daddy." I heard her spit her drink all over and I tried to keep the smug grin off my lips as I hid my laughs.

"Lauren!" She exclaimed angrily.

"Sorry. What were you calling about?"

"Well, certainly not that."

"You know you like it."

"Shut up dumbass. When are you gonna be home?"

"Probably in thirty minutes. I just got done with the private investigator."

"Oh. How did that go?"

"Let's just say I found some things out that weren't so pleasant," I mumbled, wishing I could something funny to take the thoughts away. Humour always helped when it came to anger or sadness for me.

"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked gently.

"I will when I get home. Just can you do me a favor?"

"Of course. Anything you want," she answered and I immediately heard her try to take back what she was going to say.

"Anything?"

"Lauren..." She seemed to understand her mistake as I smiled.

"Well, since you did offer, my darling. I'd like you to be in the tub in our bathroom with candles and all that romantic shit by the time I get home."

"Since you seemed to have a stressful day...I guess I will."

"Great. Thanks babe. Love ya."

"Sometimes I think you're still a teenager and it's really a turn off."

I pretended to gasp in offense. "How rude! I'm coming home right now. You can't treat me like this. Babe you're gonna get punished."

"Excuse me? We both know I top. Now get home before I walk all the way to your work just to drag you back again."

"Okay, okay. I'm going. I'm going," I mumbled into the phone, pushing some papers into my briefcase. "I'll be home in a bit."

"Promise you'll be careful?"

"I promise I will. Bye bye now."

"Bye baby." I hung the phone up and left my office, making sure to lock up. "Goodnight Jorge. Have a wonderful night!"

"You seem very happy boss. You okay?" My secretary asked. "You told me about the investigation and I don't think that would be something you'd be very happy about..."

"Oh Jorge! Why be such a downer? There's so so much to be happy about in this world. Have a good night," I exclaimed as I walked away, waving goodbye and I could've swore I heard him mumble something about me beneath his breath but I let it slide.

My girl was waiting at home for me. There was much more to be excited about than to let this news drag me down. I had suspected it for awhile and had cut my family out of my life except for my grandmother and Taylor.

Normani's family had eventually became mind and Andrea cared for me like her own daughter. I hoped it would always be like this because Normani was the one I wanted to be with forever.

This life was better than I could ever imagine and sharing it with Normani was my favorite part.

She was the love of my life.

This thought was in my head every second of the day and even though I was driving home to see her, I couldn't wait. I hoped that was what true love was. The feeling that you want to be there with them to make great memories because you love each other just that much. That was my favorite feeling.

I don't think there could ever be anything that would put a stop to my love for Normani. She's my everlasting love.

The next chapter will be the last. It will be long.

And it will conclude the book with 45 chapters and I think that's a pretty good place to leave it.
