Normani
I watched as Lauren packed up the last of her things, one half of the room looking barren and empty. She had told me last night that she was dropping out. I hadn't believed her.
But when she came out this morning with a box in her hands, I knew she had been serious. I had offered to help but there wasn't much left which made me think she had spent most of the night packing up.
She told me she had inherited her grandfather's company and that she had to move away. I tried to go with her but she told me no.
Her eyes had looked so empty as if there was no longer any emotion that existed. I hated it. I hated seeing her like that but she left anyways. She cut me off completely after that.
I called and I texted her but I never received any answers. I asked her family and they said she had done the same to them too. I had asked Lucy if she was still seeing the therapist and she told me no. She had stopped after her grandfather died and that worried me. Lauren was making progress and now she had just thrown it away. She closed down.
It had been four days and like always, I sat on my bed and called her, hoping she would answer. I met with a gruff male voice who had a rough Cuban accent. "Hello. Miss Jauregui, CEO of Jauregui Automotrices is not available. Please do not call this number again." It hung up and beeped.
I sighed and put my phone on the bed before thinking about what to do. I didn't want her to be alone. It was starting to hurt more and more without her. I knew I could go and meet someone else but I hadn't fought so hard for Lauren for her to leave me again.
I did research, trying to figure out where she lived or where she had gone but I came up empty handed. I didn't know what to do. Deciding I was hungry, I left my dorm and went outside, walking down the street to go to a coffee shop.
I walked by myself, watching the world spin on around me as I got to the coffee shop. I went inside and ordered a coffee, feeling sad as I went to my table and sat down.
I waited till they called my name and I went and got my coffee. When I was walking back, I accidentally ran into a woman. Fortunately, her reflexes were quick and she caught her drink before it could hit the ground.
"Oh my gosh. I am so so sorry," I apologized and she laughed lightly as she looked up at me. Dang she was ting.
"It's okay dear," she replied as she looked up at me. "Are you okay? You don't look so well."
"Yeah. I'm fine," I lied, trying to smile as she sighed.
"My name is Dr. Hernandez and I'm a therapist. Are you sure you don't want to talk?"
I was silent before I nodded. "Actually, yes please. That would be nice," I answered and she smiled, nodding towards a table. She sat down with me.
"So, what's wrong?"
"Well um...my friend actually used to see you. Her name is Lauren."
"Oh yes. Lauren. She stopped seeing me a week ago."
"Yeah well...her grandfather died and left her with his company. She kind of shut everyone out. Including me."
"You were seeing her romantically I assume?"
"Yeah. I was."
"You feel hurt that she completely just pushed you out? Did she move away?"
"Yes she did, and yeah, we were dating. We went through a break up and then we started to get back together before she left."
"I'm sorry Normani. What kind of impact is this having on you?"
"It's just making me sad and angry. I can't get ahold of her and I care about her. I love her. I don't want her to be alone."
Ally smiled softly and patted my hand comfortingly. "Unfortunately, because you don't know where she is, it's going to be hard to get her. I think all you can really do is just text her, call her, let her know you're there for her. When people are in a situation like this, the worst thing you can do is make her feel like she has no one." She took a drink of her coffee and I nodded. "It'll be her choice to contact you but if she does, it's better than nothing."
"Alright. That makes sense. I'll make sure I do."
"Good. Was that all that was troubling you today Normani?"
"Yeah. I think so."
"Well, if you ever want to talk again, feel free to drop by my office. Here's my card." She handed me the piece of paper and I smiled.
"Thank you Doctor."
"Of course. Have a good day Normani." She stood up and grabbed her drink, putting her purse over her shoulder.
"You too." She waved and left the cafe, leaving me to sit there for a few minutes before I decided to leave to. I walked to the beach and sat down, seeing a couple out in the water together.
I drew my eyes away, trying to keep tears back. I missed Lauren so goddamn much. I just wanted her back. I wanted to kiss her and tell her I was never going to let her go again.
I wanted to surf with her and go on dates. I wanted to do the things we used to do. I hated being without her and it made me feel even worse because she was alone.
I was concerned about her well being because separating yourself from friends can only do bad things to your head. If she was surrounded by people she didn't know all day, running a company she wasn't familiar with then she was only going to get worse. I needed to find her.
I needed to find my baby girl because if she had no one to help her, I feared she may do things to herself that may hurt her.
I needed to find a way to get to her. I had to save Lauren.
