Normani
After Lauren and I left the restaurant, we walked around the city together. Luckily, the weather was warm and enjoyable unlike the other days so far.
We went to the beach and sat down together, leaning against each other as professional swimmers trained in the swim area.
"I kind of like it here," she said and I looked at her, noticing the sparkle in her eyes that the ocean always gave her. However, the murky waters of San Francisco weren't as pretty as the ones back home. The clear water always made her green eyes brighter somehow. "Do you?"
I was silent and she nudged me. "You can be honest," she whispered and giggled quietly as I looked at her.
"I don't really like it to be honest."
"Oh really Miss Atlanta, Georgia," she spoke and laughed more even though I didn't think it was that funny.
"I guess I've just gotten used to our small little Mexican town. It's quiet and peaceful. I like that. Everyone's nice and we all know each other."
"It's home."
"Yeah, it is. I didn't use to think it was but these past couple of months have changed my mind. It's the place I think of when I think of home."
"Why?"
"Well my mom and dad are there. The surf shop is there. The lousy teenage theater employee who always hits on you is there." The last one earned me a smack and I rubbed my head as I pouted. "And you're there. That's what makes it feels like home the most."
She smiled and I leaned forward, kissing her plump pink lips that had been cleaned of the rainbow lipstick. I placed my hands on her waist as the breeze ruffled my her hair and she pressed closer to me.
The kiss wasn't long but it was meaningful as I pulled away and smiled at her. "You're my home Lauren. Wherever you are, I will go there. I would travel to the end of the earth to be with you. I would swim the deepest of oceans to be with you. I would climb the highest of mountains to get to you." Now, her eyes were starting to become a bit red and teared up a little as I caressed her cheek. "There is no length I would not travel to be with you. Do you understand that? I love you Lauren Michelle Jauregui Morgado, and I know I tell you that every day now but I really do."
"There is nothing you could do that would stop me from loving you," I finished and watched as tears streamed down her cheeks and she leaned forward, holding onto me tightly as she cried quietly.
"I love you so much Mani. I love you, I love you, I love you," she whispered as she clung to me.
I smiled and rubbed her back, silently swearing that I was going to do everything in my power to make sure Lauren's life was the best it could be.
After we were done with our little moment, Lauren and I left the beach, going to some silly little museum that I hadn't really found myself interested in. Lauren however, loved everything in the building and I couldn't help but let a small part of me enjoy seeing her so happy as we walked through the rooms.
When we were ready to go, we went to the famous Cheesecake Factory and had dinner. One thing I did like this city was the seafood. It was very good.
