Distraction

Chapter 20

Savannah
We'd been at the hospital for few hours and my blood pressure still hadn't gone down enough  for my doctor to let me go home. Instead she started an IV to help prepare the baby's lungs since I'd have to deliver early. My contractions had been getting stronger but were bearable enough that I wasn't cussing Jackson out or squeezing the feeling out of his hand yet.

"We still haven't picked a name for her yet." Jackson said while another contraction came.

"Is this your way of distracting me?"

"Is it working?"

"A little bit."

"Good, I like the name Jolie."

"I like the name Sylvia."

"Sariah."

"My sister would love that, Eden."

"Selena."

"I don't like any of those names babe. What about Lilian?"

"My mother's name?"

"Mhm and she can have Sariah's name as her middle name. Lilian Sariah Reynolds."

"I love it."

"I feel bad you're not going to be able to go to your birthday party later."

"I'm not worried about my party, right now. All I want is for our daughter to get here healthy and for your blood pressure to go down. Just spending time with you is all I wanted for my birthday anyway. I'm able to do that dispute the circumstances and it'll be even better when I get to hold our daughter for the first time when this is all over. Knowing that my girls are okay is all I need."

"You're so sweet."

"Thank you, need me to get you anything?"

"No I'm fine for right now."

"Alight, let me know if you do." I nodded before drifting off into a much needed nap. When I woke up a few hours later my doctor came in to let us know what was going to happen next.

"Since the baby doesn't seem to be in distress and your blood pressure has gone down a reasonable amount we can still deliver the baby normally. But I would like to try and have her out as soon as possible just to avoid any changes that could harm either of you. With that being said I'm going to break your water to help move things along. Your contractions will start to feel stronger and once your 5 cm dilated you can ask for an epidural to help with the pain. If anything changes we're going to have to rush you to surgery for a c-section but by the way things look that might not happen." After she broke my water, the contractions were getting stronger and I felt more uncomfortable than before.

"How are you feeling?"

Before I could respond my sister and Miss. Janice burst into the room, Jackson had called Anthony while I was napping to let him know what was going on and for him to let everyone else know to. He also called my dad and they were all on their way.

"Are you okay Sav?"my sister asked pushing Jackson out of the spot next to me and grabbing my hand. She was in luck because another contraction hit, I held her hand and tried to focus on my breathing until the pain subsided.

"I know your in pain so I'm going to let that slide but damn you've got one helluva grip. You could've warned me Jack" she said while flexing her hand.
