"Babe what about this one?" Jackson asked showing me the picture of the house he had looked up on his laptop
"That's an hour commute not including traffic, what about this one?"
"The houses are to close I don't want our neighbors to hear us when we have sex, although they might anyway."he said smirking at me
"Jackson this is serious, we need to find a house so that we can start on the baby's room."
"Alright, what about this place? It's less than thirty minutes away from my downtown shop and your office. And there's a nice daycare and school nearby for when the baby gets older."
"That's a beautiful house, we should call our realtor and let her know we found a place we want to look at."
"I will. How are you feeling today?"
"Fine, my mom wants to meet up for lunch today."
"She does?"
"Yep, surprised me when she called to but I figured since Sariah's wedding is less than two weeks away she's trying to make amends so that she's re-invited and doesn't want to tarnish her 'perfect family with no issues' image that she likes to display to family to make her feel better than everyone else."
"If she does anything that upsets you let me know and I'll come get you okay."
"Okay, I have to go but I'll let you know how it goes."
"Alright, love you."
"I love you to." I left and headed to the restuarant my mother wanted to meet at. I walked in and followed the hostess to my mothers table after I told her the name the reservation was under. While she looked I texted Jackson that I was at the restaurant. I noticed that someone else was sitting with her and thought it was my sister until I got closer and saw that it was actually Bryan's mother.
"Mrs. Anderson I didn't know you would be joining us." I saw that Jackson had responded and I sent him a crying emoji already knowing my mother's plan. I never thought she'd be this desperate to plan a lunch with Bryan's mother but I should've known better.
"Your mother wanted to surprise you, my you're glowing. How are you?"
"I'm great, thank you. How are you doing?"
"Fine, hoping my son gets his shit together so that you can be my daughter-in-law instead of that dense twig he's engaged to."
"I don't think that will be happening anytime soon Mrs. Anderson. I'm seeing someone at the moment."
"You're still with that tattooed heathen."my mother said rolling her eyes.
"Mom that tattooed heathen is the father of my child and boyfriend. Why did you call me here?"
"I just wanted to see if you came to your senses and dumped him but it seems you haven't."
"You're pregnant." Bryan's mother asked surprised, she looked at me skeptically trying to figure out if the baby was Bryan's
"Yes ma'am 21 weeks as of yesterday, my boyfriend and I just found out we're having a girl." She nodded, realizing the baby was not Bryan's.
"Congratulations, you know Bryan always said that he wanted to have kids with you and would make a great father."
"I told her the same thing but she's stuck on this guy that knocked her up."
"Are you two listening Bryan and I are not getting back together and never will get back together."
"Sweetie I know your hormones are out of wack right now so I know this thing with that tattoo guy is a phase. Once you have the baby you'll realize that being with Bryan will be better for both you and the baby."
"Mom I am not getting back together with Bryan. I know Jackson is going to be a wonderful father to our daughter because he treats me like a queen and always makes me feel like I'm the luckiest girl in the world. Something that I never felt when I was with Bryan. I know you want nothing but the best for me but when it comes to Jackson you are wrong." I got up from the table frustrated with my mother's stubbornness to not see things my way. When I got outside Jackson was there waiting for me.
"I got here as quick as I could." He stood up and gave me a hug. All the frustration I was feeling went away the moment his arms wrapped around me and I knew that no matter what my mother thought, Jackson was the man for me.
"Thank you for coming."
"No problem, wanna talk about what happened?" I nodded my head and leaned in closer to his side.
"My mom basically invited Bryan's mother to try and convince me to get back together with him and said that you'll be a terrible father." Since his shop was close by we walked there but stopped to get some ice cream to cheer me up.
"Do you believe her?"
"No. You're going to be an amazing father, your face lights up whenever we talk about anything related to our little girl. Do you believe her?"
"Not really but I can't help but think what if she's right?"
"She's not going to be right because we are both in this together, we'll learn from our mistakes together. We're not going to be perfect but we'll try our best to be good parents to our daughter. I don't care what my mother says or does I'm happy with you and wouldn't ask for anyone else to be the father of my baby because I love you."
"I shouldn't let her get to my head but it sucks that your mom hates me and barely had a decent conversation with me to actually know me to judge me. I also don't like that the tension between you and your mom is partly because of me. What if our daughter doesn't get to know one of her grandmothers."
"It's not your fault my mom is stubborn, this has been brewing for awhile and eventually we'll make amends but right now I'm not worried about it. As long as your here I could care less."
"Okay, I know you wanted to look a few more places but I found a house that had everything we both wanted and put a down payment on it."
"You did?"
"Yeah, I could tell how frustrated you were this morning and wanted to take something off your plate. We can go by and see it later if you want."
"Can we go now? I've got nothing else to do today."
"Yeah, let me finish somethings up at the shop and then we can go."
"Alright." We finished our ice cream and I felt much better even though my issues with my mother weren't resolved I was glad that Jackson took the initiative and found a house for us. And couldn't wait to see it and start decorating our new home.
