"Happy Birthday daddy!" Lily said giving her daddy a big hug and kiss as Jackson helped her into her high chair so that they could eat breakfast together.
"Thanks princess, happy birthday to you to." He said smiling at her and kissing her cheek.
I smiled watching Jackson and Lily eat breakfast together and started thinking about how wonderful things have been for us for the past few years. Lily had to stay in the hospital a few weeks after I gave birth because the doctor wasn't happy with her weight or her breathing. She finally got up to a suitable weight and her breathing improved enough for us to bring her home, taking away some of the stress I had.
It took a while for me not to blame myself but Jackson was a sweetheart and reminded me that things happen for a reason. Two months after Lily came home Jackson and I got married at the courthouse. We both didn't want to have a wedding but knew we wanted to be married soon. I was happy to marry the man of my dreams and spend the rest of my life with him.
For our honeymoon we stayed home with Lily and I enjoyed our time as a family. I wasn't ready to leave her for a long period of time yet and neither was Jackson. We mostly stayed in and spent time with Lily. Whenever she was asleep we'd have the most mind blowing sex we'd ever had.
For the past four years our lives have been blissful. After Lily's first birthday I was able to fix my relationship with my mother and we were on better terms. It'd taken me a while to fully trust her again but she was an amazing grandmother and I wouldn't take the opportunity of her having a relationship with Lily because I wanted to be petty and hold a grudge against her.
My parents did finalize their divorce and my dad has been the happiest I'd ever seen him in years. He's started dating again and connected with an old friend. She was a real sweet lady who Sariah and I both approved of. It was weird at first to see my dad dating someone else but Elizabeth made him happy and that's all we could ask for.
Sariah ended up giving birth to a handsome baby boy a year after Lily was born. They named him after Trevor but we call him TJ. He's the splitting image of Trevor who couldn't be prouder to have a son that is his literal twin. Because of Trevor's job they had to move but still come to visit during the holiday's and other special occasions. I missed having my little sister close by and our weekly lunches.
"What are you thinking about beautiful?" Jackson asked kissing my cheek, getting up to put his plate in the sink.
"Nothing, just how wonderful our family is."
"We are pretty lucky aren't we."
"We are, come on princess we have to get you dressed for your party." I picked Lillian up from her high chair and we went upstairs to her room to get dressed.
