Isabelle sits on the counter by the sink. She leans casually onto her hands, she taps her nails against the counter. The bodies filling the silence. Her red hair thrown up into a high ponytail. Her usual Cheshire Cat smile plastered on her face. Her emerald eyes meet mine, she's calm, composed. It was almost eerie, Isabelle was fire, rage and jealousy always spitting everywhere and right
I stop walking and cross my arms staring back at her. Isabelle flicks her long hair back and hops off the counter landing gracefully onto her heels.
"We need to talk"
"About?" I ask nonchalantly.
Isabelle stares at me before replying "You. You were with Cade Everton Friday evening at that sketchy bar near the edge of town"
I purse my lips together forcing myself to reply "So? Is there anything wrong with that? I'm staying away from Julian, is that not what you want?"
Her eyes hold a special hatred in them meant for me. I never really realized how cold and calculating she was. Maybe that was apart of her deceiving act she put on when we met. She had known who I was from the moment I walked up to her. I'm sure of it but how?
"I happen to know that Julian was at that same bar last Friday while I was in New York" Isabelle says
"Really?" I lie "I didn't see him there. Guess I missed him, too busy with my date"
Isabelle smiles cruelly "So how'd it feel going on a date with a rapist?"
My heart skips a beat, I wanted to move on from that. I refuse to think about that moment outside of the bathroom...
"So you know too?" I ask coldly.
Isabelle's eyes twinkle with amusement "Of course I know" she practically purrs. "I know everything"
"I can see that" I purse my lips together, where was this going.
"I also know you left that dinner alone. He got drunk didn't he? He's always drunk when it happens."
"Yes, he was drunk before I even got there" I whisper quietly.
Isabelle gives me a little pout and laughs coldly "Aw, poor little baby. Must have sucked when you found out what the golden boy does at night. Everyone has their secrets, I mean you would know. How did you meet him, hmm? How did you meet the oh so perfect Cade?" She asks
I clench my jaw and just stare back at her. Isabelle tilts her head "Cat got your tongue?" I blink.
"You're no fun. I mean I thought you liked playing games" Isabelle checks her nails out "You'd think he was a complete sweetheart from his Instagram. And those eyes" she sighs.
I watch Isabelle carefully. I bite my bottom lip, did I even have to be here? I could just walk out that door. All she was doing was wasting my lunch time.
She smiles cruelly "Did you even care about him. Julian- I mean. You're pathetic, using him just to get popularity. Honestly Lillian-"
"That's not my name" I snap
"I don't care" Isabelle dismisses as if I had absolutely no value.
Isabelle groans and rolls her eyes "You're no fun. What I'm really trying to ask here is: were you with Julian on Friday night?" Her eyes are cold watching me trying to catch me in a lie.
"No" I reply shrugging a little. I stare her down refusing to look away first.
She narrows her eyes at me "Fine. Remember, I keep good on my promises" She walks to the door unlocking it, she opens it. I
couldn't take it anymore."Do you mean you're threats?" I ask venom dripping from my voice. Isabelle spins around slamming the door.
Isabelle's eyes are shooting daggers, her emerald eyes reminded me of poison. "Do you really want to go there Lillian" she sneers "With a click of a button I could end you. With a click of a button everyone would know. With a click of a button, You. Would. Disappear." She's shaking with rage. I lifted my chin up high. "Do it then"
In the blink of an eye Isabelle stopped shaking and has a smile on her face. As if she turned it all off with a light switch. She tilts her head "No, not yet. I'm not going to do that now. Our fun has just begun. You're being warned, so listen hear and listen clear Lillian. There's a lot more I can do then just expose you're petty little secret. Then that means game over for you" she sneers
"My parents are dead. You bitch,my personal life,my family is not a game." I fume
"So you wouldn't care if I told everyone?" She threatens.
I open my mouth to speak "That- that's not what I uh"
"That's what I thought." She says smoothly cutting me off. "Here's where you're wrong though. You're life is a game, Lillian. You're not in control, we both know that. You're life is my game, I'm in control. And you'll do exactly what I say because if not you know exactly what will happen and it's not pretty. So I may be a bitch but at least I'm a bitch who's got her shit under control"
My gaze never weavers away from hers "What did I ever do to you?" I ask my voice cracking a little "Why do you feel the need to torture me? I- I've never done anything to you. We-we were friends, I don't understand. Isabelle just give me a reason, I just need to know why?"
I can feel tears sting my eyes but I keep them back. I refuse to give her the pleasure to see me breakdown and cry.
For a second, for a second I think I see something flicker in Isabelle's eyes. A little glimmer of kindness or even a hint of guilt for what she's put me through. But then it's gone, that small glint vanishes replaced by her stone cold eyes.
"You were born" she spits and slams the door on her way out.
My phone buzzes, thinking it's one of the girls I take it out looking ah the screen I read:
