How? How had they heard my conversation with Julian. I was inside my house, was it bugged? It was happening all over again. The messages, the threats, how they seemingly knew everything. It was all coming back.
Could it be that it was him?
"Lilly!" Maya pipes out as I walk into the Yearbook room. I give her a smile smile "Hey, what's up?" I ask setting my books down on the table beside me.
"Okay so" she walks behind me and closes the door, we were alone now.
"I don't think you remember this but every year we have a Christmas themed. dance"
"A Christmas themed dance?" I repeat back to her.
Maya nods "Yes, yes I know. It sounds very lame and what not but I'm part of the year book committee so have to cover the whole thing, again"
"What do I have to do with this?" Oaks not meaning to offend her.
"Here's the thing. Alissa doesn't want to be the chairperson for this dance"
"She doesn't?" That's weird, Alissa was always all over this kind of thing.
Maya shakes her head "No, last year it was a disaster. Technically we can't do an actual Christmas theme dance because it's a Christian holiday so last year we did like a Santa and his elves type theme. Didn't go so well for Alissa." Maya cringes at the memory.
"So you want me to be the chairperson of this years dance?" I conclude
"Yes! Please? Well I mean if you want to. I just thought it would good for you to be more apart of the school community and stuff. Plus I didn't really want to ask anyone else" Maya rambles.
I chuckle at her nervousness "Okay, I'll do it. I got you" Maya beams at me and tackles me in a hug "Thank you!" She rejoices "Thank you, thank you, thank you. If you hadn't taken the job I would have had to do it"
I laugh "So that's why you wanted me to do it?"
She nods "Yes, but I really appreciate it. I really do, you'll make an excellent chairperson" I roll my eyes at her flattery.
"Maya, I'll do it. You don't have to suck up"
Maya let's out a sigh here her mumble something under her breath along the lines of "thank god"
She let's go of me practically jumping up and away from me. She turns back to her laptop continuing to look through series of photos. I shake my head jokingly "Tsk,tsk only being nice to me when you want something. I'm hurt Maya" I say placing my hand over my heart.
"Mhm" she replies clearly absorbed in her work not even bothering to glance at me.
I grab my books and head towards the door, my hand on the knob. "I'm leaving now" I announce overly dramatic.
"Yup, okay. I love you" Maya mumbles to me. I laugh and roll my eyes. "I love you too" and walk out the door.

"Stop!" I say loudly, some ninth grader turns to look at what all the commotion is. Maya shoots the girl a look and she goes running with her tail in between her legs. Nina laughs. "No, m-o-i-s-t" she overly pronounces the word.
"Ugh" I press my hands to my ears "I hate that word, it's so weird"
Alissa smiles and gently takes my hands off of my ears. "What word?" She asks sweetly. I glare at her. She laughs and turns back to her food. I huff and grab my spoon.
Without my noticing Alissa had leans over and whispered very softly into my ear "moist"
I let out a shriek and almost fall off my seat. They all laugh. I shudder "Stop, stop saying the m word"
Maya laughs "The M word?" I nod "Yes, the m word"
"Why do you hate it so much?" Maya inquires.
I cross my arms "because it's weird and I hate the sound of it and it just sounds wrong" I explain.
Maya nod solemnly "Okay. So you're moist-cist"
"I'm what?" I ask
"Moist-cist" she overly pronounces the word . "You are racist against the word moist"
Nina nods "Yeah. What is wrong with you Lilly?"
"Equality for all words!" Alissa declares banging her fist against the table. "Ow" she mutters under her breath.
I roll my eyes and pop a fry into my mouth "You guys are ridiculous"
"This is a serious matter Lilly" Nina insists "This isn't something you should take lightly" I see the corner of her mouth twitch.
I smirk at them "Okayyyy, whatever you say"
My phone chimes and I look down at my phone wearily. I couldn't be afraid, I couldn't let this person take over my life again telling me what to do and say.
I pick up my phone slowly and turn it on. I let out a breath of relief I didn't know I was holding in.
Snapchat
Isabelle🙄
I frown, why would she be snap chatting me of all people. I unlocked the phone and open the snap.
A black screen and "girls washroom. Now" it lasted only a second but I got the message. "I'm going to the washroom" I mumble to the girls.
"Okay. Be careful" Maya calls after me "The floor might be a little moist"
I cringe at the word and shake my head at their attempts to make me uncomfortable. I hurry down the empty hallways and find my way to the same bathroom Isabelle had confronted and threatened me.
I reach the door and stop in front of it. I take a minute to compose myself and take a breath. Without a second thought, I walk into the bathroom. I lock the door behind me.
Isabelle sits on the counter by the sink. She leans casually onto her hands. Her red hair thrown up into a high ponytail. Her usual Cheshire Cat smile plastered on her face. Her emerald eyes meet mine, she's calm, composed.
I stop walking and cross my arms staring back at her. Isabelle flicks her long hair back and hops off the counter landing gracefully onto her heels.
"We need to talk"
