He disappeared after the game ended. Cade, I mean. He left me a short text telling me to meet him at this dinner I never heard of.
Nina had some concerns whereas he maybe wasn't the best guy to rebound with. Her point being that I barely knew him and also he went to Westdale.
I just shook my head at her. School rivalries had nothing to do with dating. Plus I'd get to know him eventually. We were in a public place, he wouldn't try anything. Not that I thought he would in the first place.
Loud teenagers and laughter filled the room. Everyone was hanging out and just simply having a good time. We had tied the game. Well, the football players did. Everyone was acting surprisingly chill. Maybe it had to do with the fact that most of the teenagers here were drunk and just wanted to party.
Alissa looked at me uncertainly when we walked in to what can be described as "sketchy" ambiance. I grimaced and give her and Nina a small shrug. Maya wasn't in a party nods today and had wanted to develop her photos instead.
The "dinner" had neon and black lights instead of regular lighting. The seats were made of black leather and medal. Graffiti decorated the peeling walls, there were a few pool tables and bar as well. I confidently entered looking for Cade.
I'm surprised he asked to meet me here. Cade didn't seem like the type of guy that belonged in this scene. He was a sweet boy, I'd never think he would be involved with the people I saw here.
"You sure this is where he wanted to have your date?" Alissa asks me. I nod "This is the place". It wasn't exactly what I had in mind but I could roll with this. I see Cade sitting with a group of boys messing around and drinking.
"Hey there stranger" I greet Cade. The conversation around the booth quiets down as the other boys smirk and chuckle to each other. I ignore them just wanting to spend time with Cade.
"Hey babe" he replies wiping his mouth with his mouth and gives me a smirk. Weird but okay...
Cade stands up from the booth. "Later boys" he calls out to them giving them a little wave. His arm wraps around my shoulders, I don't protest. As we turn to walk to a separate table all the boys wolf whistle and make noise. I duck my head down a little not being able to help myself from feeling insecure and embarrassed.Cade steps to the side motioning for me to take a seat. I give him a weak smile. From the corner of my eye I saw the other boys giving Cade thumbs up and making faces. I grit my teeth together, ignoring their immaturity. Cade smirks at them and winks. Maybe this date wasn't the best idea.
Cade slides into the booth beside me, wrapping his and around my shoulder. This time I shrug it off, I give him a weak smile and run my fingers through my hair. For the first time around Cade I felt awkward.
Which to be honest wasn't that surprising but when I met him he seem d more like the awkward shy type than I was. I barely knew him but something about his presence.
Whether is was the sketchy dinner or the way he faintly smelled of alcohol or the at he sat so relaxed and care-free carrying this aura of arrogance or even the way he smirked. Something was off.
"So where you from?" Cade asks me trying to fill the empty silence. Time for more lying I think to myself. What did everyone else think/know? They all thought I was from New York, let me "confirm" their suspicions.
"I grew up in New York with my parents." I say in a nonchalant voice, keeping it casual.
"This doesn't seem like you're scene though. New York- big city, lights, parties and celebrities." I press my lips together letting him ramble on.
"Dalliance- small town, quiet, parties but mostly run but high schoolers, closest thing we have a celebrity is the poster kid from the corner store" he laughs
I give him a light laugh "My um- I wanted a change of scenery."
"Big change" Cade murmurs
I laugh nervously trying to well not be nervous. "How'd you find out about this place?" Cade says interrupting my thoughts.
"I saw a um flyer.." That sounded stupid. Why the hell would Dalliance be on a flyer. It's the most uninteresting place like ever.
"There was a flyer..??" Cade raises a brow at me. He must be thinking the same thing as me. "Well a postcard actually. My moms step sister used to live here with her family a while back. I don't think they're here anymore." I make up the story, making it sound like they were distant family.
"What were their names? I might have known them" Cade muses sipping on a beer.
"Parkingdale" I say "Their last name is Parkingdale"
"Oh yeah I remember them. Moved away like what 4 years ago?"
I nod my head hoping he want to talk about something else. Cade sighs and slowly runs his fingertips up and down my thigh. It makes me shiver, with disgust and discomfort.
Cade mistakes it for pleasure. He chuckles lightly, blue specks dancing in his eyes reflecting off the light. I bit my bottom lip nervously, I take a sweep of the room. I couldn't see Alissa or Nina anywhere.
"What about you? Where are you from?" I ask hoping I could distract him from well me. "Born and raised here in Dalliance" he whispers slurring his eyes.
I smile at him "Oh that's great. Do you like it here?"
He nods staring down at my face. Well maybe a bit lower than that, perv. His hand now grips my thigh tightly. "I have to go to the washroom" I blurt out and jump up from my seat.
"What?" Cade asks in surprise. "I'll be right back" I say quickly and hurry to the washroom. I turn into the dark hallway that I was told where the washrooms would be. At the end of the hall I find the door that had a faded "Women's" sign.
I close the door behind me and turn on the flickering lights. I wash my wands with cold water and lightly splash my face. I look at myself in the mirror. I looked frantic. I smooth my hair down and make myself take deep breaths.
I step out of the washroom and I'm pinned against the wall. I hit the back of my head on the wall. I groan in pain, I noice someone is pressed against me.
"What-?" I start to say
"Shut up" A low voice hisses.
