John's POV:

"Ms. Taylor, pleasur-" Turning, I am met with Sacha. "Oh, Sacha."
"Yeah, it's me." she throws down her purse and leans against the front of my desk. "Where's Mika?"
"My place, where else would she be?"
"Why isn't she here? Why aren't you parading her around? Why is she cooped up in your place, hidden from the world?"
"You ask a lot of questions." I chuckle.
"And I want answers to all of them."
"She's at my place because she wasn't feeling well."
"Right." she huffs.
"Call her yourself and you'll hear it in her voice."
"You know what? I've got a better idea." she grabs her purse. "Let's go."
"Go?"
"To your place. I'd like to see my best friend, if you don't mind."
"Well, actually-"
"You don't mind, great. Let's go." Fuck.

"Bye Patricia, I'll be back soon. Ms. Taylor and I are going for lunch." I smile.
"Have a great lunch Mr. Trew and Ms. Taylor." Patricia smiles.
"Thank you." Sacha says, her teeth clenched.

When we get to my place, Craig jumps up from the couch. "John, who's this?"
"Mika's best friend." he freezes. "Sacha."
"Sacha." she shakes Craig's hand.
"Craig, great to meet you."
"Craig's an old friend."
"So, why is he here?" Sacha's curious ass asks.
"He's taking care of Mika while I'm at work. You know, because she's not feeling well." I raise my brow and voice slightly to Craig.
"Right." Craig chuckles.
"Well, where is she?"
"She's in the guest room." I say as I lead her.
Forcing her arm from mine, she huffs. "I can find it myself, Jesus." Huffing, she turns left and makes her way down the second hallway.
"Take care of her." I tell Craig as I figure out how to hide Mika's battered face and cuffed body from her nosy friend.
"She hasn't seen Mika yet, though." Craig stops me.
"And it's only a matter of time before she does. So take care of it before Mika finds out she was ever here."
"You got it, boss." Craig goes down the hallway to find Sacha and I hurry into my bedroom to hide Mika.

Craig's POV:

I follow close behind this "Sacha" woman and watch as she opens every closed door, peeks in, closes the door and moves onto the next. When she gets to the last door, she turns and jumps as she sees me.
"Jesus you scared me." she clutches her heart, giggling.

Sacha's POV:

"Jesus you scared me." I laugh, clutching my heart as I look at this "Craig" guy. "Well, Mika isn't in any of these rooms." I turn and look down the second hallway. "Is she down there?" I point my finger. Craig moves out of my way. "Okay. . ." I drag out as I make my way down the second hallway.
"Sacha." Craig finally speaks.
"Yes-" I say turning, but my cheek is met with a hard force. Falling, I clutch my cheek and scurry away from Craig with every step he takes.
When I'm backed to the wall, with nowhere else to go, Craig kneels in front of me. "It's nothing personal, it's just business." he whispers.
My head is hit once more and I fall, my eyes landing on Mika. Her face battered, her body bruised with no trace of clear skin, and she's handcuffed. She says something, but my hearing is gone. I try to say something but my body gives out and everything goes black.

Mika's POV:

No, no, please no; Is all that runs through my brain as I watch Craig get closer and closer to Sacha. He says something and she turns around. Before I can even blink, he hits her and she falls. I watch her cower and try to get away but she backs herself into the wall. No, Sacha, you're better than that. Please, fight. Please. Craig kneels and whispers something to her and then I watch as she takes a blow to the temple. Her body falls and her head hits the wooden floors. She's immediately out of it, no longer who she once was before coming here, and she finally sees me. Her pupils go wide as she takes in my true appearance. Ashamed that I've caused all of this, I bite my lip and look down as the tears build up in my eyes. I say to Craig, "Don't do this, please." But all he does is look at me and shrugs. Sacha tries to say something, but she is no longer Sacha. I watch her eyelids close and I finally let the tears fall.

My best friend is dead and it's all my fault.

John's POV:

I hear Mika begin to cry and my anger returns. Looking at her, I raise my hand and hit her.
"Shut the fuck up!" I scream in her face.

Mika looks down and weeps as silently as she can, but I can still hear her. Raising my hand as a warning, she winces, then after a minute or two, she stops her weeping and is dead silent. Good.

"Craig, what of the body?"
"Well, I'm pretty sure she's brain dead." he stands up from his kneeling position, brushing off his pants. "So, I figure we can just dump her somewhere."
"Yes, but if she's alive, then what?" he pauses and then starts screaming. "I TOLD YOU TO MAKE SURE MIKA NEVER SAW HER!"
"She most likely won't remember anything, but you're right sir, we can't risk that chance. And sir, with all due respect, she didn't see Mika until her final moments." Craig rubs his almost bald head and sighs, taking his phone from his pocket. "I'm gonna make a few calls."
When Craig is out of the room, I sit next to Mika. "Fucking imbecile. Anyways, I have some questions my love, did she come alone?"
"I don't know." she mumbles. I raise my hand, telling her to speak up, and she screams. "I DON'T KNOW!"
Smacking her for raising her voice at me, I give her one more chance. "Is she seeing anyone?"
"Yes." I raise my brow. "I don't know her name, she never told me. All I know is she's a lot older and she lives in Chicago like us."

Mika's POV:

He smacks me. I don't know why. I did what he asked of me. "Is she seeing anyone?" he asks.
"Yes." he raises his brow, telling me to continue without saying a word. Swallowing, I speak. "I don't know her name, she never told me. All I know is she's a lot older and she lives in Chicago like us." Lies, all lies. I have to protect Lisa though. I can't let what's happened to that woman and now Sacha happen to anyone else, I just can't.
I'm literally smacked out of my thoughts and John says, "I'm going to ask you one more time. When you two were on the phone yesterday, did you hear anyone else?"
"Well, I figure she was on the plane when we talked, so just random chatter from unknown people." I attempt to shrug.
John gives me this look I can't even describe before leaving the room. When he comes across Sacha's body in the doorway, he just kicks her out of his way and moves on. Just kicks her brain dead body like she was nothing.
God Sacha I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. This is all my fault. Why can't this just end already? God help me.
