Inyeong's POV
"Auntie!" if only I could stop them from calling me that then I would! They make me sound so old while I'm still young. YOUNGER than their father.
My two nieces come running to me with each one of them ready to hug their beloved auntie. I welcome them in my arms as I embrace them.
"Aunt Inyeong," Yeongeun, the eldest among the twins, spoke. "Did you have a nice day? Daddy always says that auntie is smiling everyday with uncle."
I arch an eyebrow and react, "Uncle who?"
"Hehe," that annoying trying-to-sound-like-a-child giggle reached my ears. "Uncle Jongwoonie." My elder brother approaches from their kitchen.
"Hahaha," I give him a cold stare. "Very funny brother."
"What?! It is true, right sis?" he uses his elbow to nudge me from beside. Oh how I want to hit that smirking look on his face. Let's see who'd suffer because of it!
Still, a poker face remains in my face. There is nothing funny to laugh at. Just a trying hard to be funny brother with, now, a twitching smile.
Suddenly, the twins begin to drag me to where a tasty smelling scent is coming from: the kitchen! Their 9-years-old brother is cooking along with my sister-in-law. "Auntie, do you like jajangmyeon? Daddy likes them!" aw~ Yeongji, the youngest child, is really so adorable when she speaks. Her cuteness makes me nod my head. The couple's eldest offspring, Kwangmin, invites me to eat dinner with them.
"Just make sure you're making something tasty," I challenge the kid.
Unlike his mother, Kwangmin courageously accepts saying that he always cooks delicious food and that one day, he will have his own restaurant. The kid has such a big dream, just like any other children should do. All I hope for is that his head won't grow big like his father when he became the team captain of the basketball team, back at his college years.
I watch the family of my brother from the side, leaning on the wall. They all look so happy and positive. Minji unnie and Eunyeong hyungnim are in the midst of saving up money to buy their own house for the family. Brother does have a good income but Yeongji is a sickly child and her medicines are no joke. The girls are soon to start their first day of school this August which makes the couple busy preparing the necessary documents. I heard that Kwangmin is getting Taekwondo lessons. I can definitely say that this is an example of an average family but lives happily. I admire them a lot.
"If you want a family that bad, you should just make one with Jongwoonie later. Make sure he enjoys it."
I hear myself sigh, "That brother really..! He would pop out during the unexpected times and tell me strange things!" The piece of yellow paper that I wrote on.. has just been crumpled.. by me. Brilliant. I worked hard on that one!
A family, huh?
Heh. Brother makes it sound like I'm so desperate to have one right now. He doesn't understand my situation. He married at a young age of 24 and yet I'm turning 27 this year, without a TRUE love life. How would he expect me to end up? Maybe alone..
But, sometimes when I get to think about it, I also want my own family. A family like his. It is every woman's wish. Someday cooking for my own children and loving husband. Waking up in the morning with my husband being the first one to greet me with a beam. Hugging my children when they're afraid. Protect my kids from the erupting anger of their father. To be comforted by him when I need someone to hear me out. Those little misunderstandings and arguments that he and I may undergo. Everything that happens within a family, I want to experience them all.
