Day 2.1: The Singer Within

Narrator's POV

It's bright and early in the morning with a digital clock flashing 7:00am on its screen. "BEEEEEP!! BEEEEP!!" it goes. Its attempt to wake up the sleeping Inyeong results in a sucess. The day she has been waiting for has finally come! No, it isn't yet the day of her marriage to her idol fiance. It's the day when she gets to partake in a chairity activity once again! The ideas of making children happy are making HER happy. She literally jumps off the bed and begins to ready herself for the big stage performance.

The charity program is in a form of musical stage play, but is different from the usual ones where professionals are taking on the roles. Actors and actresses in a musical play are the ones acting, singing and dancing throughout the show. However because the selected students to play the roles are not gifted with beautiful vocals, it is where teachers and volunteers come in. Singers will be doing their part on the side of the stage, choosen students from the drama club will play their respective roles and dance presentations will be done by members of the dance troupe. There are tickets to enter the venue of the play and the accumulated money will be used for the prepatory department's improvement of facilities. The beginning of the preparations for the whole plan took place almost a month before and everyone prays for its sucess.

Up until yesterday’s practice, Inyeong was clueless of the whole story. Ms. Oh expressed her deepest apologies for failing to inform her ahead of time and having the model practice with a blind idea. The musical’s plot is that of a typical love triangle between two best of friends and their single love interest.

Initially there are 3 duets to sing in the whole production. However due to some misunderstanding issues that sparked between the management and a volunteer, Inyeong and Ms. Oh were given the responsibility to sing the songs the other duo was supposed to present.

On the same day, the brunette was introduced to the male duo who was assigned to sing the lead male’s songs. They were both volunteers so they held their own practices somewhere else and only came to attend the general rehearsal.

The time flew fast and its 8:15 as of the moment. The model, whose job is now to sing, is well prepared for the upcoming show. She grabs her bag and dashes down to the entrance. Luckily, a taxi is parking outside. She takes it for a ride to the school. The whole ride costs her less than 20 minutes. Inyeong pays her fare and exits the vehicle with an excited heart.

Finding Ms. Oh becomes her top priority. There is one place where she is confident to find her; it’s the gymnasium of the school where the event is going to be held. Apparently, her guess is right. Her duet partner is giving instructions to her students at the backstage. After Ms. Oh’s eyes got a glimpse of her, she dismissed her students.

“Good morning Miss Hwang,” she said while walking towards her direction. “Did you wait for long?”

“Good morning to you too. No, actually I just arrived.”

The teacher proposes to have a last practice before the show. They only got 25 minutes at maximum to get everything ready. Anxiousness is killing the both of them so it’s best to do something rather than nothing.

“My Best Friend” is one of the two upbeat songs to be sung by the duo. The song is originally sung by the famous girl group, Girls Generation. Just as the title says, the idea of the whole piece if the deep friendship of two friends.

The play is ought to start by introducing two girls who share the same deep friendship. They’re named as Soah and Meeyoung in the story.
