"Son!" A loud voice boomed through the quite house. The voice belonged to Jack's father. It was annoying, since Jack was trying to sleep. It was late.
"What?" Jack yelled back, outing his face in a pillow.
"Grab the bag you packed and get down here!" Jack's father answered.
Why would Jack need his packed bag so late in the night?
Jack grabbedvhis bag, grumbling as he walked to where his father's voice was coming from. The front door.
A young woman who looked kinda like his classmate, Sophia, was standing in the doorway. Ann and one of jacks middle-school classmate, Astrid, we're standing behind the woman. Ann and Astrid were both in pyjamas, Ann's better than her friend's.
What were these people doing at Jack's house?
The young woman began to quickly twist around. What?!? And in just a second, Sophia was standing in the woman's place.
"Sophia?" Jack asked. "What just happened to you? And what are you doing here, I was trying to sleep..."
Ann snorted from behind Sophia. Outbid the corner of his eyes, Jack could see Ann rolling her eyes. Wow...
"Hey," Jack said to Ann. "It's Annie, right?"
Ann's eyebrows shot up. "Why do you act like you don't know? We've been in class together since middle school. And I know you aren't that dumb. And, it's just Ann."
"Okay, Annie," Jack said with a wink. "Oh, hey Astrid."
Astrid gave a little wave, giggling at Jack's and Ann's banter.
"So," Sophia said, morphine back into a young woman. "We are going on a journey, to sharpen the powers that you, and five others have. One of those five being myself. Now, we have to pick up two other that will be traveling with us."
"O-okay?" Jack said uncertainly. He was still a bit confused. "Bye, dad..."
Jack's father slapped a hand on his son's shoulder. "I love you. Be careful."
"I love you, too, dad."
Jack stepped out of his house and into the night.
Ann tripped while walking to a car, that Jack assumed the four of them were taking.
Jack stood over Ann, a smirk in his face. He held out his hand. "Falling for me already, are we, Annie?"
Ann raised an eyebrow, and gripped jacks hand. "No," she said, and suddenly pulled Jack to the ground next to her. "But you are!"
