Emily awoke, slightly confused at first. The memories came in sudden flashes. She sighed in relief, this was her chance.
Her chance for freedom.
Emily had always felt so compressed. Boxed in. She strived to become someone independent, who doesn't have to follow any guidelines set by anyone.
It was an exiting thought.
Emily sat up, and looked over to the other bed in the room. It was empty. Instead, Sophia stepped out of the bathroom, dressed, and still a young adult.
"Good morning." Sophia said with a nod. "You should go get dressed, we're going to go next door to grab the other teens, and we're going out!"
"Okay!" Emily chirped, bounding up and out of her bed.
Emily emerged from the bathroom in an outfit she had always thought of wearing, but never did. It was a lime green crop top, and a cheerleader-style white skirt.
Sophia looked quite modest in comparison, with a red tang-top, and black tights.
Emily pulled her curly blond hair into a high ponytail, and bounded through the front door of her hotel room. Sophia smiled, and followed her, locking the hotel room behind her.
"You got your suitcase?" Sophia questioned, pulling up the second strap on her backpack.
"I'm okay!" Emily replied cheerily. She opened the door to the other four's hotel room, and was hit with the scent of bacon. Emily walked into the hotel room, and was greeted with a heart-warming scene.
Ann and Jack were dancing through the small kitchen in their hotel room, singing random little things with each other, and cooking eggs, bacon, and toast.
"Y'know," Jack sang lightly.
"Yes?" Ann asked in the same, light, sing-song tone.
"If you were a fruit, you'd be a fine-apple!" Jack finished, smiling lightly.
Uncharacteristically, from what Emily had seen, Ann let out a happy, close-eyed laugh.
"Now, I'm seeing your advances." Ann sang, pulling bacon put of the small oven in the kitchen. "And I need a promise."
"What is it, dearie Annie?"
"Don't you go 'bacon' my heart~"
Jack piled scrambled eggs onto plates. "I couldn't if I 'fried'."
Groans could be heard by all.
While this was happening, Astrid was staring at the pair, an amused and knowing expression on her face. And Kyle was staring at Astrid in a sideways glance. He had such a loving look one his face.
"Hey." Sophia said, sitting at the table with Astrid and Kyle. Emily sat herself by Sophia, looking at the plates of food hungrily.
"Good morning." Ann said in an even voice, smiling lightly, setting food in front of Kyle and Astrid.
"How are you two this fine morning?" Jack asked in a posh voice. He set plates of food in front of Emily and Sophia. "Me and Ann figured you two would be over this morning, so we made you food!"
"Ann and I." Ann corrected. "Jack and I ate when we were out buying the ingredients for breakfast."
"So, you two had a pleasant morning?" Astrid asked slyly.
"Mhm!" Ann said with a smile. Astrid looked at her weirdly. "I'm sure you and Kyle had a pleasant, private morning as well. With just the two of you."
That certainly seemed more like Ann.
Sophia adopted a more serious expression. "The game plan for today. We are going to drive around, and look for certain, designated spots for practicing your abilities. We will find out which power you harness, though I do have a bit of an idea."
"Where are we?" Kyle asked, taking a bite of his bacon.
"Well, there are two known worlds. And there's a way to go from world to world. Through reflections, like when we went through the mirror to get her last night. This world is known as The Other Side. The world we came from is known as The Across."
Emily absorbed that information. Another world. Maybe she hadn't been awake enough to fully take in what was happening last night, because bit was all really hitting her. She was in a whole different place, with no family, friends, knowledge of anything.
And they were going to be journeying throughout it with five others.
