Astrid really liked being at the beach. The air smelled nice, and she liked being able to help Kyle further ease into being around the ocean. Monsters came often, and it was interesting, seeing Ann take the leadership role.
Astrid really didn't want to leave The Other Side. She didn't want to have to go back to school in the Across.
It was early in the morning when the group loaded into the van for the last time that summer.
"I'm going to try and arrange it to where we all go to the same high school." Sophia said. "It seems wise that we stuck together."
Astrid smiled. She liked the idea of going to the same school as Kyle and Ann, her favorite people. Astrid rested her head on Kyle's shoulder, and drifted off to sleep.
When Astrid was shaken awake, the sun was setting. She climbed out of the car, and took Kyle's hand. Kyle bent down a bit to kiss her softly.
"Up we go," Sophia said, "follow me."
The teens followed Sophia up and into the sky. Sophia stopped, and reached out her hand. And, a pocket if the sky opened, to reveal the inside of the closet they had come from. Sophia flew aside, her hand still on the corner of the pocket, and gestured for the teens to go through.
Astrid felt anxiety worm through her stomach when it was her turn to step through. She felt warm as she flew into the Across. And, she was back. Kyle joined her shortly, and Email and Sophia followed.
They were back.
