Astrid stepped out of Sophia's car, smiling to herself at Jack and Ann's bickering. Those two were going to get married.
"Look," Ann cried out in exasperation. "We're here. You can stop bothering, now."
"Oh, shush," Jack said, throwing his arm around Ann's shoulders. "You know you love me, Annie."
Ann stalked off to the front door, leaving a smirking Jack by Sophia's car.
Yeah.
Those two were definitely getting married.
Astrid followed Sophia to the front door.
"This house looks familiar..." Astrid said, observing the house. It was hard to make out in the dark, but it just so... familiar.
Wait.
Sophia knocked on the door, and a woman in about her forties appeared in the door way. It was Kyle's mother. This was Kyle's house.
"Oh dear." Kyle's mother said sadly. "It's time, isn't it. Come inside, come inside. I'll go get Kyle."
Astrid sat down on the familiar couch. She saw a photo of young Astrid and Kyle.
"Oooh!" Ann said, snapping her fingers. "This is that Kyle's house. Mm, that's why you seem so freaked out to be going into a house with your pyjamas on."
"Keep talking." Astrid said teasingly. "At least my pj's at better than your chicken onsie."
"Hey, now," Jack said, sitting next to Ann. "I, personally, like Ann's onsie. And I'm not chicken to say so."
Ann groaned, and turned away from Jack. "No. No puns."
"Awe, come on! That pun definitely deserves a kiss."
"No."
"Aaawwe, come on, my princess!"
"Worst nickname."
"Okay, fine, my queen."
"That's better, peasant."
"Hey." A voice said with a yawn. Astrid looked over to see Kyle, slumped against the doorway to the living room with bed-head.
Astrid gave a little wave. "Your hair looks impeccable. Not a hair put of place!"
Kyle winked. "I know."
"So," Sophia said, standing up. She began to twist around into her younger form. "You have powers that you need to train with. I, also, have powers. As do these three that are with me. We are going to pick up the last member of our little team, and then we are off."
Sophia quickly morphed back into a young woman, and led the four teens to her car. Well, it was actually scan. Like the kind that has the two normal front seats and rented rowsbof seats behind that.
Astrid slipped into the middle row of seats, Kyle following.
Astrid could hear Ann grumbling un the back about how she was stuck sitting with Jack.
"You two were meant to be, though!" Astrid said to Ann.
"Mhm." Ann said sarcastically. "The only people who were meant to be together is you and Kyle."
Astrid quickly turned around, her cheeks heating up.
Ann was going to die.
