I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
It'd been so long since I last saw you. You seemed so foreign. Everything felt shaken and upside down. I had no idea what to say to you.
It was like fate had led us to meet again. If I hadn't met you that night, nothing leading up to the present would have occurred. I would still be miserable, and so would everyone else I cared about.
If it wasn't for that night, I have no idea where we'd be right now. That night, you stole my heart, and I stole yours.
You had me surrendering to love without even realizing it.
Jung Jaehyun.
Rosé was absolutely speechless.
It had been over ten years since the two had last seen each other. Back when Rosé was only five years old, she had been close friends with Jaehyun. They'd spent time together almost every day.
Those were the times that Rosé had considered herself to be the happiest she'd ever been. She had her closest friends there with her - Jaehyun, Jennie, Lisa, Taeyong, and Jisoo - and she was constantly at ease, as she did not have to deal with pressures on royalty and formalities.
Then, when she was eight years old, Jaehyun moved away. It was so sudden, and for Rosé, it was heartbreaking. Her world had fallen completely apart.
She'd lost her closest male friend; the one who could always make her laugh when she felt down, the one who would always try new things with her.
The one who always made her feel like she was actually worth something to the world.
"Chaeyoung, do you believe in serendipity?"
"Serendipity?"
"Ah, sorry. In simpler terms, it means 'fate'. Do you believe in fate, Chaeyoung?"
"Fate? Of course."
"If you truly believe in fate, then you have to trust me. I promise we will see each other again someday."
Now, here he was again. Out of nowhere, Jaehyun had made his way back into Rosé's life.
She remembered him to be the same height as her. Now, however, he had grown to be around six feet tall; a few inches taller than Rosé herself. His hair was a mix of light brown and honey blonde, and he had a lean, well-built figure. His dark brown eyes stared mesmerizingly back at her as a spark of curiosity lit up his eyes.
Did he remember her?
Before Rosé could say anything to him, however, several other guests had managed to conjure themselves up beside her.
"Jaehyun? Is that you?"
"No way, I haven't seen you in years!"
As the Jungs were once again distracted by guests, Rosé took this as a chance to slip herself out of the sudden commotion. She made her way over to the crystal tables lined with silver embroidery, pouring herself a drink as she did so.
