"I said I'm sorry. For everything. For hurting you that day and for spreading rumors. I'm over all sorry for igniting your bullying. I was trying to use you as a target so now one would bully me" Alex's head ducked down in shame as he continued.
"You see. The first day I saw you. I thought you were beautiful and I thought picking on you would get your attention." He said softly. His head still held down.
"Dude that's stupid" asher interjects while glaring at the back of Alex's head.
"Shhhh let him finish "susan hushed asher while smiling at him. Its weird how she can smile at asher in a situation like this. Not seeing much to smile about, I kept quiet and listened.
"Then you came to the library and found out I had trouble reading. I was so angry but not at you. I was angry at myself "Alex said looking up. My heart sunk.
"If you weren't angry at me, why did you behave that way" I asked softly as all of us ignored that we were still in class. But it was okay because our English teacher gave us the session to work on our assignment.
"I thought you'd tell everyone " Alex said looking down as he continued. "I thought you couldn't possibly like someone like me" he added so softly that I almost couldn't hear.
"So let me get this straight. You ruined her life because you thought she'd reject you?" Susan asked bewildered.
"Oh dude" asher blinked. "That is beyond stupid"
Susan slapped Asher's arm as she Scolded
"Asher that's not very nice" she narrowed her eyes.
"Yeah and so is what he did to kim" asher point out.
"Wait you have dyslexia!?" Susan whisper yelled as realization dawn onto her features.
Three pairs of eyes turned to look at me. I kept quiet still analogizing his apology and contemplating whether these three are actually trying to be friends with me. It was too good to be true but my heart felt heavy. I wanted to believe them but I was battling an internal war if not to obliged to their request for friendship. I ponder for a moment then decided I'd watch them while relish in the joy of having friends or acquaintances. If I can even call them that.
"Excuse me, would you please send Kimberly out of the office for a moment." A lady said bringing my attention to her.
"Sure. Kimberly your excused." My English teacher said.
My three new acquaintances moved their desks so I could pass through. Walking away from them and towards the lady. A feeling of loneliness washed over me as I walked through the sea of eyes giving me weird stares. They looked at me as if still thinking I was from another planet. Which is strange because I'm wearing my contacts.
I took another glanced at the three persons sitting at the back where I was sitting just minutes ago. Both Alex and asher gave me shy smiles while susan flashed me a warm one while gesturing with her hands for me to go. With that I walked out of the classroom following the lady. Half way down the hall we stopped at a set of blue coated lockers.
"Sorry it took so long for us to assigned you a locker. As it is you were transfered. So your details just finish being completely processed. This is your locker and as of today you'll be using the school's bus transportation system." He informed me and point to my locker.
