In an instant I found myself standing in a damp woodland area surrounded by tall massive trees which blocked almost every inch of sun from touching the ground. A few slivers provided some light, enough for me to see where I was standing. The air around me felt thick. So thick that those calling my name came in echoes as if they were far away from me. Then I heard the whispers. Like hundreds of voices talking all at once. I could not make out what they were saying, but I got the impression that they were talking about me. I stared around me as I was positive I could hear footsteps across the snow covered ground of the woods. I could not see who or what it was. There was not enough light provided for me to see them. They were there though. I could feel their eyes all over me. I looked back and expected to see the field, the team and the school back there in the distance, but all I could see was more humongous trees and more woods. Where had it all gone? Where was I? I could only remember taking a step into the woods.
Suddenly I felt a hand grab hold of me and I was pulled backwards.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself laying in the arms of Dimitri. There was sun somewhat shining above his head, down on us. He had concern and worry etched all over his face as he checked to make sure I was breathing by bringing his one hand to my neck and checking my pulse. I could tell I was out of the woods and now laid down amongst the snow covered field in Dimitri’s arms. He was obviously the one who had pulled me out. I stared up at him. Maybe I was still pretty confused by what had just happened, but I did not feel the urge to push his hand away from me or to push him away from me at all. Instead, I found myself reaching up to Dimitri and brushed my fingers against his chiseled chin. And for that moment, I just found him and I staring deeply into each others eyes.
Then in a split second our moment came to quick end as Roman appeared at my side above us and almost ripped me out of Dimitri’s arms. He lifted me up into his arms and took off with me towards the school, passing quite a few students who had already started with the whispers. I still felt in such a daze as Roman rushed me into the school and directly towards the nurse’s office. Though for some weird reason I kept picturing Dimitri before me each time I closed my eyes. Once inside the nurse’s office, Roman laid me down on the examination bed.
The nurse came rushing up to us at once. “What happened?” The nurse asked.
“She-she was in the woods!” Roman replied, almost shouting. He sounded in a total and absolute panic.
The nurse’s middle aged face turned white after hearing what Roman had to say. She quickly started to push Roman towards the door. “Go call Ms. Hatch now!” The nurse ordered. Roman did not put up much of a fight as he was pushed out of the office. The nurse slammed the door shut behind him before turning back to face me. She was in full panic mode. For what? I was not hurt. I was perfectly fine. I tried to sit up on the bed. The nurse rushed up to try and stop me from doing so. “You should try and stay down.” The nurse said. She forced me down by my shoulders. I felt somewhat weak so the nurse managed to succeed in pushing me down. I laid down on the bed tried to gather myself again. My mind felt hazy. It was almost as if I was still half asleep and struggling to wake up. The door opened again and in came rushing Ms. Hatch with Roman right behind her. It did not take her long to usher Roman out of the office. She slammed the door shut just as I closed my eyes and pretended to not be aware of her presence. It came off as believable seeing as neither of them knew I was alright.
“Is it true? She was in the woods?” Ms. Hatch asked, sounding just as panicked as what the nurse did.
“Yes. She was just brought in. I don’t see any open wounds on her, but I want to check for any internal injuries. Maybe some possible bruising.” The nurse replied.
“How long will that take?” Ms. Hatch asked.
“Not long. I am going to start with it now.” The nurse said. She started to touch and squeeze my ankles. I remained dead still. Though I could feel how the nurse was trembling just by her touches. “Second one today, but I don’t see any injuries on her though.”
