Dimitri and I spent the entire afternoon together. It was only when the sun had finally started to set that we decided to call it a day.
He walked me to the staircase leading up to my bedroom passageway and gave me a long kiss and a big hug goodbye. Though it was not long enough as we were interrupted by a few younger school girls who had the same idea as what I had.
Change first.
Dinner second.
Hopefully a slow walk with my now official boyfriend last.
Dimitri charged off in the direction of his room, leaving me to linger at the bottom of the staircase with my my chin melting into the palm of my hand as I leaned on the railing, till eventually Dimitri had turned a corner and was completely out of sight. I pieced myself back together and rushed up the stairs to change for dinner. I could not believe how marvelous the day had planned out. I whipped out my cellphone and quickly updated my facebook status to in a relationship. Laughing to myself at the thought of what Dimitri would say when he saw this, I finally arrived at my bedroom. Tucking my cellphone in my blazer pocket, I lifted my arm to the door handle. To my surprise, the room was unlocked and the door was partially left open. My heart started to beat a little faster as the fear kicked in. My breathing lowered. Was Carmen inside? She would never leave the door open like this if she were. Not since we knew about the woods and what danger we would be in if we were found out. I knew there was only one way to find out what was going on. I opened the door ever so gently and stepped into the room.
Our mattresses had been thrown over. Our cupboards had been opened and our clothes tossed all over the place. I took a few steps into the bedroom so that I now stood in the center of all this mess and destruction. The drawers of the dresser had been tossed out onto the floor. Even the trunks had been opened and thrown over. The framed picture of my father and I laid smashed into pieces on the floor under some of my clothes. Someone had been through our things. What the fuck?! Who would do this?! Why would someone want to go through all our personal things?! And than it hit me. I quickly scurried over to my bed and started searching for the book I had stolen from the secret room. My immediate guess was that whoever had done this had been searching for the book and by the looks of things, they had found what they were looking for. I couldn't find the book anywhere. Defeated, I spun around towards the door and just dropped my arms at my sides. Something hanging on the back of the door. It looked like a note. Closer observation confirmed that it was exactly that which was attached to the back of our bedroom door. I yanked it off, allowing the pin to drop to the floor which had attached it to the door, and read the note.
Report to the Principal's office ASAP.
You and Carmen have quite a lot of explaining to do.
Ms. Hatch
She knew! Somehow she had found out that Carmen and I knew her secret! But how? Possibly my stunt yesterday, running into the woods, gave it all away. But Carmen had nothing to do with it! I had to get her off the hook somehow before it was too late. I noticed that Carmen's key was still in the keyhole on the inside of the door. I could only hope that I was not already too late. Who knew what Ms. Hatch was doing to her! I just hoped Carmen was playing dumb like I told her to. I dropped the note on the spot and took off out of the room, slamming the door shut behind me, not wasting time to still lock it. I raced through the school, pushing students out of the way if they were standing in my path. I knew I was possibly running into a trap, but I could not allow Carmen to lose her life or get hurt because I dragged her into all of this. I took my phone out and tried calling Dimitri. His phone just rung till it went to voicemail. I guessed he were in the shower or something. I left him a voice message on his voicemail. As soon as he heard the message he will come for me and I would be safe. I was positive of that. The moment I arrived at the principal's office I stopped running and slowed down completely. My heart was racing and I was out of breath. Frightened and in panic mode, I returned my cellphone to my blazer pocket and stormed inside. I could not allow Ms. Hatch to even catch a whiff of my fear.
