"Where are we going?!" I shouted at Dimitri.
Thankfully he heard me and answered. "To the territory of The Order!" Dimitri shouted back. "The rebellions will not dare try and enter their territory!"
I wasn't sure if this was such a good plan as I know The Order didn't particularly want humans to know about them or their world, but when I looked back at the werewolves that were gaining on us I knew I didn't want to be caught by them. I didn't want Dimitri caught by them. It was a damned if we and damned if we dont situation.
We broke out into a familiar clearing. It was one I had seen plenty of times in my dreams which had haunted me for nights after I started school here. Dimitri started to slow down. I could see he was wearing out. With every step he took, he left a paw print of blood. I suddenly started to doubt that we were going to make it to The Order in time before his body gave in. I braced myself for what was about to happen next.
Dimitri tripped and ended up falling, collapsing into the snow. I held onto his fur for as long as I could before being flung off of him by the impact of the fall. I landed in the snow with a couple of tumbles not far from where he himself had landed. Immediately I forced myself to recover from the fall and climbed up to my feet. I searched for Dimitri. He was up on his feet again, but not looking at all very good. I took a step towards him. He lifted his head up and barked at me, making me freeze in my tracks at once.
"Leave now Savannah!" Dimitri ordered. His voice rung loudly in my mind.
"But Dimitri!" I tried to argue with him as I noticed the werewolves were gaining on us, ready to strike.
"I said leave now Savannah!" Dimitri barked again at me. Teeth flashing and everything. "The Order's territory is just on the other side! You are almost there. I will hold them off. You will make it if you leave now and run as fast as you can!"
"I don't want to leave you behind Dimitri! They will kill you!" I said desperately. Tears begun to form in my eyes again.
"You have to go now! Than you stand a chance of saving me by alerting The Order as to what is happening here!" Dimitri barked.
He was more serious than ever now. He wanted me to go. He wanted me to leave. He had a valid reason to do so. It was just me that couldn't bring myself to leaving him behind. My mind and my heart were waging a battle of their own within me. One kept shouting for me to leave while the other ordered me to stay and not even dare leave Dimitri behind. It was only once my mind had convinced my heart that this might be the only way to save him that I took a step away. I was going to save him. I was going to bring help.
"Leave! Now!" Dimitri ordered once more, sending bolts of electricity shooting through my cold body, slowly awakening it.
With tears in my eyes, I turned and took off. My barefeet not feeling the cold of the snow any longer. All I could think about was saving Dimitri. That seemed to fuel this invisible blanket of warmth I had covering me as i hurried through the snow.
I raced across the rest of the clearing as I heard the snarling and snapping start behind me. It signalled to me a start of a fight. Somehow I managed to force myself from stopping and looking back at the fight as I knew if I did, I would not be able to continue forward, but instead run back towards Dimitri to try and help him fight the other werewolves off which were certainly doing a number on him as not only was he injured, he was also outnumbered.
I just kept going.
Kept running till I made it to the other side of the clearing. From there, I scaled up a slight hill of snow before reaching the top. Out of breath and starting to tremble from the cold, I stumbled down, falling on my hands and knees on the other side. Not sure if I had successfully made it into the territory of The Order, I rose to my feet and gazed around the area I was now standing in. The snow was gone and replaced with a beautiful wild garden which was absolutely breathtaking to look at. No snow in sight. The winter's cold had been replaced with a gorgeous warm and brightly glowing sun. Had I made it to the territory of The Order? My bare flesh welcomed the warmth. I could bath in this serenity all day long if it were not for the fact that Dimitri was being attacked by four other evil werewolves who wanted to kill him. I looked back and saw that outside what I believed to be the territory of The Order, the moon was reigning and darkness was dominant which meant time was running out for Dimitri. I had to make quick. I had to find help for Dimitri even though I had no clue on what I was about to face now that I was a human in unknown territory. My fear of the unknown could not be allowed to stop me now. I had too much at stake. Too much to lose.
