We were now alone and I had honestly no clue of how to act or behave around him. I was far too used to being rude to Dimitri. Now I actually had to try and be nice as I kind of liked his family a lot. Plus there was this whole other more innocent and down to earth side of Dimitri I had witnessed today that I am not sure if anyone from school, even Candice had ever seen before. I suppose I was lucky?
As we stepped out together I decided to be the one to break the silence between us before any awkwardness was started. "Your family is pretty awesome." I said.
"Thanks." Dimitri said. "Some might say they are a bit too loud."
"Maybe they are, but they are loud in a good way. Though I honestly don't see how you fit in there. You are so still." I said."Black sheep." Dimitri said. We started to walk through the busy crowd of people towards the nearest exit which led to the underground parking lot. His family had disappeared completely from view. "Look." Dimitri looked back at me. "You don't have to feel like you are being forced into anything out of guilt or whatever for what was said earlier." Dimitri stopped right outside the door and stared down at me with this safe expression on his face. Had I been so rude to him that he did not believe that I would actually want to spend some normal time around him? I kind of felt bad now. How could I explain to him that I had had a change of heart ever since realizing that he was actually also just as much human as what I was, without making it look like I was just trying to get into his pants because he was single? I'm pretty sure that most of the girls back at school were already trying that which is why everyone was so concerned as to where Dimitri had disappeared to during these holidays. It was going to be hard, but I believed it was worth a try.
"Honestly Dimitri, I don't mind showing your family around and going hiking with them." I said reassuringly to him. "I mean. I don't really have anything else to do while I am here. I don't want to be at home and I disowned my so called friends the moment I left and discovered what type of people they truly were."
"So just so we are clear, you are using me and my family so that you are not left alone and bored?" Dimitri asked. I wasn't prepared to lie now when I was being so honest here.
"Pretty much yes." I said, giving my shoulders a shrug. Dimitri smiled at me. At least it was a smile and not one seriously dirty look. I was relieved. Dimitri was taking my honesty pretty well by not running away from me. I probably would have been super pissed if someone had said something similar to me. Especially if it were coming from Dimitri himself. "Are you possibly driving?" I asked since Dimitri had become speechless. I'm not sure why was that.
"Sure. I am one of a few that actually have a legit license." Dimitri replied.
"Great. Lead the way." I said eagerly.
I knew that if I were to go through with this successfully then I would have to stop by the mansion order to change my shoes especially. There was no way that I was going to be able to hike in these boots through the snow. And if I could recall, at this time of the year, the woods in this area were always heavily embedded with snow. Though I honestly believed I was ready to rather suffer in these boots than stop at the mansion first.
The way my mom looked at me as Dimitri and I pulled up in his blue pick up truck was proof that my mom was highly pissed off at me. I already knew why. I had left early with not even a word to her or Rick, because apparently I got to answer to Rick too now. AndI was showing up with a guy in the late morning. It looked far worse than what my mom was making it out to be. I wanted to leave Dimitri in the truck, but because my mom had already seen him I kind of felt obligated to introduce the two to each other. At least Rick was not here to make things worse for me. Though my mom was honestly capable of doing all of that on her own.
