Whispers filled my dreams. When they eventually fell silent, my head felt extremely hazy and my eyes were heavy. I struggled to open them. When I eventually did manage to I was bombarded with hugs and kisses by Carmen who felt the need to act impulsively and repeatedly squeeze my sore body over and over. I barely had a chance to fully take in my surroundings when she started squealing from excitement to see me. The bit that I could take in told me that I was laying on a bed in the school's infirmary. How did I get here? How long have I been out for? Only Carmen seemed able to answer my questions as she was the only one currently here. The infirmary were empty besides her and myself.
"What happened? How did I get here? How long have I been out?" I asked the moment Carmen released me.
She sat up straight on the side of the bed I was laying on. She had a bit if a scrape on her forehead, but looked fine otherwise. Fine and pretty cheerful and even relieved to see me awake and talking to her. "You have been out for a day." Carmen replied.
"A full day?!" I gasped. I coud not believe what I had just heard. I actually lost a full day of my life. This was unbelievable. Yet very familiar to me considering that I had spent time in a coma prior to this.
Carmen just nodded her head at me for an answer before continuing on to complete answering the rest of my questions."Besides a few bumps, cuts and bruises, we are all fine, including the driver. Emergency services said we were pretty lucky." Carmen explained. "Especially after they saw how totalled the vehicle was. Good thing for seatbelts hey." Carmen gave a laugh at what she had just said. I struggled to laugh. I did however manage a smile at least.
Flashes of what felt like nothing more then realistic dreams that had happened plagued me during my sleep. They came rushing to my mind now. I knew the truth though. They were no dreams. They were the truth. There was a question which needed to be answered more then any of the others I had. "Where was I found?" I asked, my tone of voice much lower then before."In the snow a few feet from the vehicle." Carmen replied. "Why?" She immediately asked afterwards. She could tell that something was wrong. It was etched all over my face. I could not hide it even if I wanted to. It felt merely impossible for me to do so. At the same time, I found it hard to speak to Carmen and tell her exactly what was running through my mind. Carmen reached out and gave my hand a squeeze to attract my attention in order for me to start speaking to her. "Say it Savannah!" Carmen said persistently.
"I was in the woods." I blurted out. Carmen's face went white almost immediately. Her mouth sort of just remained partially open, but she didn't dare say a word to me. She was left speechless after what I had just said. And there was still more to come. "I was dragged by something invisible into the woods. Then attacked by a wolf before being remarkably being saved by another. Next thing, I awoke here." Carmen tried her hardest to not stare at me like I was a crazy person babbling on here with a serious head injury. I didn't want her to think that of me. I don't know why I cared what she thought of me, but I did, and I really didn't want her to think that of me. I grabbed hold of her arm at once with one hand. "I am not going crazy. I swear to you, I am telling the truth!" I said, sounding pretty desperate. I needed her to believe me, but I wasn't sure if she did. Judging solely upon her current facial expression, I could not tell what she was thinking, what was running through her mind.
"I saw a figure in the snow." Carmen suddenly said in a whisper to me, breaking her silence. Her eyes were oddly blank. She was not even daring to look at me as she spoke now. Maybe it was out of fear that I would think she was crazy. The same fear I currently had right now too. I remained silent and listened to her every word. "I thought it was just my imagination or perhaps I had hit my head too hard, but now I know I saw it. In the snow, coming from the woods what looked like a large wolf. It suddenly stood up on its hind legs and resembled some sort of large man. I saw it for only a moment before passing out again, but I could swear I saw it carrying someone or something in its arms towards the vehicle."
