I don’t know how long I’ve been locked up in here, but it’s driving me mad.
I can’t remember much of what happened before I ended up here, in one of the small attic rooms of Malfoy Manor. My last memory is of Lexi falling through the sky, about to hit the ground of the Manor gardens at an alarming speed – but at the last minute, changing direction, and gently falling into the arms of Voldemort.
…And… and me and Blaise shouting at him to let go of her and charging towards him, that bloody huge snake and his group of Death Eaters with a frightening lack of fear. But we can’t have got far, because my memory goes black after that.
Blaise is locked up in the room next to mine. When I first woke up and realized they’d locked me up here, I could hear him shouting and shoving himself against a door, trying to break it down. In fact, that was probably what pulled me out of unconsciousness – the sound of her name, over and over. “Lexi! Lexi!”
I’d dizzily scrambled up off the wooden floor and charged over to the door, already knowing it would be locked. I whacked it a couple of times but it wouldn’t budge. “Blaise!” I called out instead. “Blaise, it’s me! Can you hear me? Blaise!”
“Lex -” he shouted out again, before cutting himself off. “…Draco?! Where are you?”
“I’m in the room next to you, I think,” I replied, running over to the left wall, where his voice was ringing out from. It was muffled but it was definitely coming from there. I hit the wall three times just to be sure, and seconds later I could feel someone hitting the wall back, from the other side.
“Draco!” he yelped. “We have to get out of here – I think they’ve locked us up while they deal with Lexi!”
My mind was racing as I tried to remember what had happened. It’s scary, when your memory is empty. I couldn’t remember anything past the image of Lexi in Voldemort’s arms. It petrified me.
“Do you have your wand?” I shouted to him, already knowing the answer.
“No,” was the reply. “…You?”
“They must have taken them off us after knocking us out,” I muttered, scanning my eyes desperately over the room.
I’d never really ventured up into the attic of the Manor – it always creeped me out a bit. My parents had never really got round to decorating the attic rooms because they were old and falling apart and they had so many other rooms lower down anyway. They’d neglected the top rooms and they’d started to sort of rot away because of it – the floorboards creaked, the wallpaper was peeling, and they were covered in curtains of cobwebs.
