Dear Lexi,
My dear I'm not to sure how to say the complexion of my and your life to you I suppose I should start with how I feel. Here we go well at a the age of 42 I feel I have no time left. I have a feeling that my life is a clock on it's last minutes.I've been carying the weight for 17 years. The world around you would judge you completly if they knew.
Well when I was around your age I fell in love. I know this is probably sounding really bad to you now but dont put this down.
His name was Jack Layyer. He was in the year above me, a Gryffindor, and reality’s attempt at Prince Charming.
He was Head Boy, Quidditch Captain, and student’s hero. Everyone knew his name, and everyone loved him – he was just one of those people you could say. I hope you find a boy like this
Me, in comparison? Ha I was a pathetic a weedy Hufflepuff in the year below.I was shy and didn’t really have anything going for me – I wasn’t clever, or funny, or sporty – the only thing I was good at was blending into the background and boy did I do a good job at it.
But one day, in fifth year, I was involved in a Quidditch match. I was the substitute’s substitute player for the team – and the Captain had only given me that position because I’d been to tryouts since second year and actually never got in – but, just before the first match of the year, through a weird twist of fate, everyone suddenly become really ill with the flu. I was roped in as a last-resort beater in a match against Gryffindor.
We had to shake hands with all the players before the match started, so I – extremely nervous – shakily tottered over with the other players, and with a shy smile introduced myself to the opposition.
Everything was going fine until Jack Layyer, who was boldly working his way through all the Hufflepuff team and making everyone fall in love with him as he went, suddenly grabbed hold of my hand. “Good luck,” he murmured with a smile, and then our eyes met.
His eyes were perfect just as I had imagined them. They looked like the ocean and flowing just like it.
I, of course, wilted immediately. I blushed bright red as my eyes stared into his shockingly blue pupils and mumbled something about good luck and wished he’d just look away so he wouldn’t notice how embarrassed I was to be holding his hand. God, I was so childish… but then the weirdest thing happened to me. He broke out into a huge grin and his eyes sparkled and he said, “hello.”
I opened my mouth but no words came. His grin got bigger. “Jack,” he introduced himself – as if I didn’t already know –“Jack Valentine.”
“…Flora,” I just about managed.
“Flora,” he repeated, trying it out for himself. I was agonizingly aware of the fact he hadn’t dropped my hand. Then the whistle called for the game to begin and the crowds became alive all around us. “Oh, I, uh –” I mumbled to myself, getting flustered.
“First time?” said Jack suddenly.
I stared at him. “Yes,” I said finally, when I realized he was talking to me.
