Chapter 40

Hange pov

"Guess I should go clean." I said standing up.

"But you didn't tell me the thing!"

"It's for the best anyways."

"How about this. I come help you clean and you can tell me about it while we do that."

"No. Today is Thursday. That means two days til the expedition. You need to train so you're ready. I can clean by myself. Besides, you don't need to know what's going on. I'll tell you when everything's over, ok?"

"But why can't I know now?!"

"Hell if I know. Levi just doesn't want you to know. I don't know what the big deal is about you knowing. He's just pissed off. Like really pissed. Like wants to kill pissed."

"Oh. Is it because he won't get to kill titans Saturday? I guess that would piss him off. I mean, he must be at least a bit jealous."

"Nah. He doesn't wanna kill titans. He wants to kill humans."

"Oh. Is he a yandere now? And Scott and Selena are actually locked up because Scott likes Y/N and Selena is a lesbian and likes her too? And you're not actually cleaning, but making sure nobody goes down there. That's it, isn't it?"

"Not quite. That's a funny thought though. A yandere Levi. That would be interesting to watch."

"Yeah. I still think that's what's going on. But whatever."

"Ok. You think that. Makes it easier on me." I say under my breath.

"Eh?"

"I need to go clean now! See you at lunch. Kick ass during training!"

I walk off quickly before she has a chance to stop me. I walk to Levi's office and knock on the door.

"Go away brat. I'm busy. Can't you read? Seriously. The sign has been there for a couple days now. Now buzz off and anoy Hange."

I open the door and walk in.

"Who do you think you are just busting into my room? I'll put in the stables with Jean. Explain yourself this instant." Levi says walking in from his bedroom. "Oh."

"Hi!"

"What the hell are you doing here?! Didn't you get the memo? Go guard like a good girl."

"Actually, I thought I'd clean while I'm at it. Figured I wouldn't get questions as to why I'm just standing there and who I'm guarding. Mostly from Sasha. She really wants to know what's going on."

"Be my guest."

Levi walks over to a closet and grabs some cleaning supplies and gives them to me.

"If you're really going to clean, make sure to do a good job. It is kind of messy over there. Now get out."

"See ya shorty!" I say walking out. I only get a grunt and an eyeroll from him as a response.

I walk over to my new station and begin cleaning. There's nothing here that really needs to be cleaned. Levi said it was kind of messy, but I don't see anything I do ahead and clean it all again anyways. Sweep, mop, dust, wash the windows, the list goes on and on. It's hard to tell where I've cleaned though considering it already being clean so I probably missed spots. After I finished, I couldn't really tell the difference. I then just sit there against the wall and hum a bit. There's nothing else for me to do. Guard duty is freakin boring.

Erwin pov
*back to the day after you got poisoned. Tuesday I think. I don't even know. Best author 10/10.*

"Y/N was poisoned last night."

"What?"

"Cadet L/N. She was injected with some sort of poison last night. She's out cold. She'll be fine though."

"Hange, you're kidding."

"Nope. Levi came in to my office at like 3 this morning carrying her saying she passed out and wouldn't wake up. I found an injection site in her neck and her veins were all weird. She should be fine though. She's with Levi now. She'll wake up some time this week."

"Who did it?"

"Don't know."

"She have any enemies?"

"I don't think so."

"Anyone she's upset at all lately?"

"Well she pissed off Mikasa, but Mikasa wouldn't poison someone over that. That's just stupid."

"I don't care. She's the only lead. I'm going to go get her."

I walk out of my office and Hange trails behind me.

"That's really not nesicary. Mikasa is a good person. I really doubt she'd do that."

"Hange, I have nothing else to go on. I have to do something."

I walk down the halls and find her room. I knock on the door and she opens it.

"Oh. Good morning Commander." She says and salutes.

"Relax. Is it ok if I come in for a moment? I have a couple questions."

"Uh, of course. Please do."

I walk in and Hange still follows me.

"Do you mind telling me where you were around 3 this morning?"

"I was with Eren and Armin. I do appologize. It was after curfew. I should've been sleeping. Please forgive me. Give me a proper punishment." She says bowing her head.

"Oh. It's alright. Don't appologize. This actually makes my job easier. Let's go find the two boys then, shall we?"

The three of us walk out of the room and head to Jeager and Arlet's room. I knock on the door and Jeager answers.

"Good morning Commander. Morning Captain. And Mikasa? Please, come in."

The three of us walk in and Arlet also comes over.

"Hello boys. Do you mind telling me where the two of you were last night?"

They both hesitate for a moment and Jeager looks at the floor.

"Please tell me. It's very important. You won't get in trouble for a minor offense. I just need you to tell me the truth."

"We were hanging out here with Mikasa. We're very sorry for breaking curfew and allowing a girl in our room during the night. We were just talking. If you need to punish us, please do so. I won't argue. We deserve it." The blonde boy said.

"You will receive no punishment. I appreciate your honesty. Alibies check out, now where do we go?"

"If you don't mind me asking, what is this about?" Jeager asked

"There was an incident and we need to find the culprit."

"Why talk to us?"

"I didn't intend on talking to you boys. Sorry for disturbing your morning."

"Why talk to Mikasa?"

"There was no other person we could think to ask. Mikasa seems to be the only one that's had an issue with - nothing."

"Is this about Y/N? I didn't mean to be so harsh to her. I just got upset when she punched Eren. As long as she stays away from him, I'll have no problem. If she chooses to punch him again, I'll punch her lights out. That's all."

"Mikasa. You're making it worse." Arlet said.

"I'm telling the truth though."

"Check Jean." Jeager said.

"Why him?"

"He doesn't like Captain Levi right now. He was punished because of Y/N."

"I didn't even think about that. Could be someone that doesn't like him. Now I have to interview everyone. Thank you for the idea. I'll be taking my leave now. You the have a nice day. Thank you for being honest about your whereabouts. Do be more considerate of the rules from now on though. Please."
