Chapter 38

Levi pov

"You want to what?!" I yelled at the two idiots in my office.

"We think they would make good sco-" Hange started.

"They came to kill Y/N! You're nuts!"

"And you came to kill me. Yet you're still here. In fact, you're a captain." Erwin shot at me.

"It's different!"

"Really? How?" It was Erwin again.

"It's. Well. I never tried to kill you!" I yelled at Erwin.

"Actually, you did. And you failed."

"It doesn't matter! What if they try to kill her again and we don't notice because we think they're good people?!"

"What if you try to kill me again? Hmm? You three are very similar. You grew up underground doing whatever you could to survive. Then you were sent here to kill someone. The big difference is that you actually wanted to go through with killing me. They didn't."

"You don't understand Erwin!"

"I think I understand per-"

"Do you know what it's like to have your two best friends ripped in half in front of you because you made them join the survey corps for your own selfish needs?! Do you know what it's like to show up at the house of the person you love with all of your heart only to find her parents dead and her missing? Do you know the pain of searching for 10 fucking years for that girl knowing that she's probably dead? Do you know how it feels to cry yourself to sleep every night because you weren't there to protect her? Do you know how it feels to see her again? And then she gets poisoned. And then it happens again and the love of your life almost dies in your arms. Right after you got her back. DO YOU KNOW HOW THAT FUCKING FEELS? NO! YOU DON'T! SO DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND!"

"You're right Levi. We don't understand any of that. Erwin just wants to give them a chance. Let me watch over them. I'll watch them 24/7.  If there are any signs that they want to hurt anyone, they'll-"

"They'll meet my fucking sword."

"Leeeviiii. Be quiet please. I'm tired. I wanna sleep but you're yelling. What's going on?"

We all turn and face the dorrway to my bedroom. There stands Y/N leaning against the wall.

"Y/N?! How long have you been awake?!" I ask looking at her in shock.

"I just woke up. I'll go back to bed though. I didn't mean to inturupt your meeting. Sorry Commander. Sorry Hange."

Hange runs over to her and just about knocks her to the floor.

"How are you feeling? Are you ok?"

"I feel like shit. I'm tired and I feel like I'm gonna vomit. Why do you ask? Do I look that bad?"

Hange drags Y/N into the office and puts her in a chair.

"What? She doesn't remember anything?" Erwin says.

"Remember? The hell are you talking about?"

"What's the last thing you remember?" I asked her.

"Last night at dinner Hange's old friend Scott came and ate with us. Sasha wasn't there though. She was sitting with Connie and had a breakdown. We left early because I wasn't feeling good and I went to bed."

"She lost a whole day." Erwin muttered under his breath.

"That's what I expected. I mean, a near death experience does some damage. I'm surprised she only lost one day."
