Adrian dragged me upstairs. Not minding all the life disturbing noises we were making. It seemed as if it was his main goal to personally wake the whole house. And worse, he made me bring all the bags he packed, which was no biggy really since I didn't find myself struggling to carry them all at one time. Besides, they were small and light enough for me to bring along. So wow, I guess Adrian was really serious about going away from here.
We hurriedly ran upwards with me, almost tripping over the stairs because I hurriedly wore my rubber shoes, without my socks mind you. Dang, it felt uncomfortable without my socks, how much more if I was gonna run without them either? I pulled the laces tightly and decided, if this was gonna be a prank Adrian was playing on me. I'll just have to get back at him, what else can I do anyway?
We sprinted forward and stopped in front of my girlfriend's room. As for what we we're doing here, I'm not that sure, I guess it was something related to waking her up, hopefully she won't kill me for this, but if my girlfriend, Kit Kat, does decide to break up with me after Adrian flounces into her room without an invitation for him to enter, then I wouldn't hesitate for a minute on burying Adrian beside our beloved mother.
Kit Kat, oh...her name made my insides flutter. My knees buttery. She had the most beautiful blue eyes, like a baby, innocent from every evil thing in this world. Kit Kat was a brunette, but unlike mom's oh so straight flowing hair, Kit Kat's hair curled at the tip of every strand, which kinda gave a princess like impression on her. And nope, she wasn't cute, or either even pretty, she was beautiful in every way.
And I liked her. Even after mom's death, I made it clear that I still liked her, in fact, if things were going as how I wanted them to go, I might even make her my wife, and we'd settle down with our family, a happy family, free from all of this hell I'm experiencing, far away where the sting of death wont even hurt anymore. But what was I saying? Only a fool would wish for such.
Adrian opened the door before I could tell him to knock, and then he forced himself in. "We have to go Kit Kat." He quickly said out of nowhere.
Kit Kat suddenly sat up, wide eyed, shock clear on her face. "Why?" She asked. "Where are you guys going?" She inquired, turning her desk lamp on.
I opened my mouth to speak out an excuse but I was quickly interrupted by Adrian.
"NOOO!" Adrian yelled, suddenly breaking into a run, he only relaxed the second he turned the lamp off.
An awkward silence immediately formed in between all of us. Funny how it was only Adrian who seemed to not notice any of that, fear was what seemed to ooze out of Adrian's face. What in the hell is happening to my brother anyway? I mean, Kit Kat was in her PJ's for Pete's sakes!
"What's going on here, Caleb?" Kit Kat asked, frowning. The one thing that was good about Kit Kat was how she was concerned of what or why things were, she was smart enough to know that prying about with other people's businesses were rude, more ever cruel. So she asks, like what she always does before reacting. "Caleb? What is going on?"
I gave her the look that said, I wish I knew. I mean, with all the things my brother said, I don't think I even got any of them registered in my head correctly. One thing was clear though, Someone was after us. Or maybe not.
So she turned to Adrian, and before she can ask again, Adrian spoke, drowning out her drowsy voice. "Kit Kat, were not the only ones going, you have to come with us. Hurry up and we may be able to save your family."
Kit Kat stood up, eyed me out dolefully, and hugged Adrian, she slowly rubbed his back. Like me, she noticed my brother's withdrawal from the world after dad died, she also noticed how his attitude changed. After Adrian wakes up from a nightmare, screaming, she was always by his side, comforting him until he fell back to sleep, and I have to say, I'm amazed with how she does it, because no matter how hard I try, Adrian just wouldn't stop screaming, not unless he sees Kit Kat's face...but I wouldn't wonder why he always had to see her face before he drifted back to a peaceful sleep, I mean, Kit Kat resembled mom in many, many ways.
