Luther was driving the car like it was faster than the wind. And believe me, we all had the reason to anyway. Who knew that our small little neighborhood wasn't one of the first neighborhoods that were attacked? We were passing through New York City, and things...things were getting out of control.
Those inhuman beings were just all over the place, and they were devouring every last human being that could be found. Not to mention, even children. More screams filled the air, and blood...it was scattered all over the place, making my little neighborhood a scene for only what seemed like a petty massacre.
I turned my head away. Whosoever was responsible for this, may it be the government or not...they will pay for it. Not only for Lilith, but for every family who's died because of their actions.
My home...I was leaving my home. It was just now that it dawned upon me that we actually were, and maybe for good. I never thought it'll all be so fast. I mean, just yesterday, we were planning on my dad's funeral, and here we are, escaping New York city, and probably headed to another city, at least if those things hadn’t rampaged New Jersey at all, then we have a chance on probably surviving.
"Dad, where are we going now?" Kit Kat asked, breaking up the silence.
I suddenly tensed. Why would Kit Kat ask that if Luther didn't make it clear that we would be heading straight to New Jersey?
"Uhm, I'm heading first to the station. I have to report this to them, or maybe help things out in this chaos."
My mouth dropped. He never said anything about that. "Luther, you do realize that this is beyond police control, right?" I asked, trying, hoping that sense would enter his through his head.
Adrian spoke up. "There is no more police, Luther. Days ago, they cancelled all police, F.B.I, C.I.A or whatever services the government offered, and dad said the info on that will only be released today."
My mouth dropped lower, what? Where did Adrian get that from?
"I guess your right." Luther said. Actually dad and Luther were the best of buds, and providing that they both worked for the government, well...they learned to trust each other with the government's dirtiest secrets ever. So I guess when Adrian mentioned dad, Luther decided to listen. Heck, why didn't dad tell me any of that anyway?
“What are those things?” Luther asked, swerving to another road. Somehow, his speaking up surprised me, I mean after we told him about his wife, all he ever did was nod his head, he then drove in silence. This was the first time in 20 minutes of silence and driving that he ever asked a question without anybody doing the asking first.
“Don’t you see what they are?” Adrian asked, noticing only now that my brother was still holding the gun Lilith used minutes before she died.
“Well, I’d like to think they–”
Adrian interrupted him. “They’re zombies.”
I would’ve laughed, zombies? Was he kidding me? Because I know some who’d probably eat people’s brains and that they get killed after live plants interfere. Were those the zombies Adrian was talking about? I mean, those guys didn’t even look like half the looks of those things. They were monsters, that’s what they were. And there was no point in arguing what other horrible name you could call them.
Kit Kat looked behind us, since she sat at the front seat. Even until now, her eyes were still bloodshot from crying. “Zombies? You mean those guys…who eat people?”
Adrian nodded his head. “Dad, mentioned something earlier about t-them.”
This time, Luther glanced back, disbelief clear on his face.
