Chapter 9: Tears

Silence.  That was what rang through my ears, silence.  Ironic huh? and I actually thought that that dream was horrifically real.

It was also dark if your asking, like seriously pitch black that it took a long time for my eyes to adjust to this darkness.  Dang, now I miss electricity more than anything else in this world, well, except for an exceptional American Hamburger.

"Caleb," Adrian whispered.  As for why he was whispering I didn't get why.  "Caleb, where's Luther?" After he said that, another of those foul smells entered my nose, making my head ache more than how it was aching already.

"Pewew," I said.  "Who left the door open?"

"The door isn't opened Caleb, it's Luther." Adrian replied, sounding dead serious.  I would've laughed, I had to admit I was a bit amused with Adrian, I guess I wasn't the only who noticed how Luther was starting to smell.  But I didn't laugh, I guess it was because I felt shaken up enough with the image of  my mom crawling towards me as blood freely flowed out from her mouth.

"Why?" I asked.  "Luther's right over in his corner."

"Caleb," Kit Kat said, her voice breaking, more ever it was soft.  I was surprised to even feel her trembling body against my skin.  Why was she trembling?

"Dad's not here, he's not here anymore" she said silently.

"What are you talking about? Luther's right over there..." my voice trailed away as a figure was slowly walking towards us, actually the figure was more likely dragging his feet while approaching us.  It was groaning, moaning what those things usually sound like when they were approaching their prey.

"Wh-what is that?" I asked, pointing to the figure approaching us.

"It's Dad," Kit Kat said, her voice breaking into a sob.

What? Luther was a zombie? How could that be?

The figure was approaching to us, I wasn't sure if what I heard was right but if they were right then...then he is gone, forever.

"Get back," I told Kit Kat and Adrian, and they obeyed, well, I would too anyway.  If what they were saying was true, then we'd be in the loosing end.  Luther was a big man, and he was obviously stronger than me.  Like duh? I was just half the dude's age.

The figure took a step forward, groaning.  Reaching it's arms towards us, I started to feel fear and panic seep into my insides.  This reminded of the time when Kit Kat, Adrian and I were stuck at the end of her bedroom, fending off this thing from hurting all of us.

"Luther," I said, dang, I didn't know what I was doing.  But I tried to at least speak to him, even if it felt a little bit deluded, useless even.  I mean who tries to talk sense into a dumb zombie anyway? Me, I guess.  "If your still in there, don't let that monster win over you."

Oh well, the Luther like zombie stopped moving, and he took off from his face what seemed to be a mask and shockingly he started laughing at all of our faces.

"I'm just making fun of you guys! The looks on your faces are priceless!" Luther yelled happily, clutching his stomach while rolling on the floor, tears of happiness and joys dripping out from his eyes.

Actually, that's what I wanted to happen, but unfortunately, it was the opposite of everything I wanted to happen.

The Luther like zombie ran towards us in berserk motion, his face no longer the Luther I knew, his eyes were bloodshot red, and the smell, geez, the smell, it was so foul I might end up puking on somebody right now.
