When I finally had the knife in my hands, I nimbly started cutting through Kit Kat’s seat belt. Which wasn't really hard because it was a really sharp knife. But actually, knife seemed more likely to be an understatement, it was actually a dagger. It was 5 inches long and was double sided, in fact it was sharp enough to cut Kit Kat's seat belt in one cut through. Awesome, I know. I guess being a policeman had it's advantages.
By this time, she started gaining conscious, and to prove that she moaned.
“D-dad?” she asked, her hand fluttering to her head aimlessly. She opened her eyes and stared transfixed at her bloodied hand. “My head’s bleeding,” she remarked, wonder filling into her voice.
I gave a sigh of relief as the last of her seat belt was cut off, but then again she did not fall the same way we all did, because the half of her body was stuck all the way through. I placed the dagger in my pocket, covering it with some teared cloth from my tattered jacket. So much for bringing jackets, Adrian. I thought to myself.
“Why is my head bleeding?” Kit Kat asked, turning to the both of us.
“Katherine,” Luther said, you’re alright, except your head. But otherwise your fine.” he declared, smiling. “Uhm, this may hurt a little bit. But we're gonna help you get outta here.”
“What happened?” she asked, her eyes finding me.
“Car crash,” I said, trying to help Luther pull Kit Kat out.
“Ouch!” she cried, pain visible on her face. “Dad, dad please take it slow, my legs–they’re cramped up.”
“Honey, I don’t think we have much time.” As he said that, the sound of more gun fires filled the air.
Kit Kat’s eyes grew wide. “Is it me, or are those the sounds of bullets?”
“Uh, guys!” Adrian called, “They’re drawing near! I won’t be able to hold on longer, we have to go now!”
“They’re coming here?” she asked wide eyed.
Luther and I didn’t answer her question, I guess we were busy trying to get her body out, or…maybe we just didn’t want to freak her out, because we both knew if Kit Kat freaked out, then that would either start world war one all over again, or it may be the beginning of the end of all our worlds right now.
“Answer me!” She demanded. “Are those things coming here?”
I looked at her, “Okay, look were gonna pull you out, so try to tuck your legs in, okay?”
“Caleb, answer me.” She said, her blue eyes displaying boldness. How could she look so daring? So brave amidst all of these happenings? Because right now, all I’m feeling is the fear, panic and desperation creep into me, like poison filling my mind.
“Yes they are,” I answered.
“Then what are you guys doing here?” She asked, scowling. “Get out of here now, you’ll all die, if you’ll try to save me,”
I clenched my fists. What was Kit Kat saying now?
More shots came, and more falling bodies came to view. “People! We have to hurry! The Fire’s also coming close!” Adrian reminded, which made me in turn curse under my breath.
“Get out of here!” Kit Kat said fiercely, her body trembling. But even if she’ll scream at me, or beat me up, I would never, ever and I mean ever leave her behind.
“We are not leaving you here Katherine.” Luther said, with a seriousness to his tone, that even I have come to respect. “Now, Caleb, help me pull her out.”
