Chapter eleven

***Elena's POV***

I bravely led William into the woods.

"Where are we going?" He asks again.

"Somewhere I haven't been to in a long time."

I followed the almost grown up trail. I didn't need to follow the trail I knew the woods like the back of my hand.

I could hear William huff. I stop to look at him. He already started to swear. "Do you need a break." I ask.

"No, no. Not used to going this far without Henry."

I laugh. "Well, you could use the exercise."

"Is that a fat joke."

"Maybe. Come on let's keep going." We start walking again.

"How much farther?" He asked.

I laughed again, "not too much farther, Princess."

"Ha ha. Very funny, Elena." He rolled his eyes and we were quiet the rest of the way there.

Except for the panting William gave out as we walked.

"Okay we're here." I smile at the opening that reminded me of such a better time. It was a beautiful clearing in the middle of the forest. Father made it for me as a secret garden.

It had a couple of benches and tables and in the middle was a gorgeous water fountain. With four small bird baths. There was bird feeders everywhere.

"This is amazing!" Said William in awe.

I smile sadly, "father and I used to bring me every afternoon. We'd have tea parties. He told me that if something was ever to upset me, this place would bring me comfort. And this place was exactly where I went."

"It's beautiful, Elena."

"I stopped going though." I said softly. "After father left It didn't feel right anymore. It didn't feel the same. I almost forgot it was here. Until Rosemarie died. I ran, I ran so far I thought I was going to get lost then I stumbled upon this opening and I actually felt safe for a second." I wiped a tear from my eyes. I looked at William he just stared at me.

"You must think I'm lame by telling you my story."

"No i don't. I know how you feel." He says.

I shook my head. "No you don't. You haven't got a clue on how i feel. You have your mother and father. You still have your sisters, house keeper, the servants, you have everyone you need. I guess I don't really need anyone if I keep losing the people I love."

I turn from him and heard a chirp. I look to see a beautiful small bird sit on one of the bird baths.

"A nightingale." I could hear the smile in his voice. "You know the story, don't you?" He gently turns me to face him.

"What story?" I asked, softly. He sat me down on one of the benches.

"The story about the nightingales."

"There are so many of them."

"Well this one is about the nightingales song. You know that if your ever lost they're song will guide you home."

"Yeah, of course everyone knows that." I say.

"Well, this one is about a family. It's tragic what happens to them."

"What happens to them?" I asked, eager to hear more.

"I'm about to tell you." He smiles.
