Chapter ten
***William's POV***
"What?" I heard her say.
I start to rub my nose and check for blood. There wasn't any so I'm fine. Except for the throbbing pain that came with being hit with a door.
"It's not your fault." I repeated.
"What do you mean? I'm the one who hit you with a door, you didn't hit yourself, did you?" She smirks.
How funny, I thought, sarcastically.
"No. I wouldn't do that to myself. I know you're the one who hit me with the door. I just wasn't paying attention I where I was going. I was distracted."
"Distracted?" She laughed. "By what?"
"Not what, who." I corrected her. She stopped laughing and stared at me. She knew who she just didn't want to say it.
I was attracted to this girl somehow and I plan to figure why. But that means spending time with her.
But how?
I'll have Lady Erica following my every footstep soon and if I show up with her, Lady Erica will go crazy tell my family a bunch of lies and probably get Elena thrown into prison.
I had to chose between them. I groaned outwardly and regretted it instantly. I confused look ran across Elena's face.
"What? What is it?"
I shook my head. "Nothing. My nose hurts, though." I say to change the subject.
I saw a hint of pink show up on Elena's cheeks but it quickly vanished. She stood tall and started to walk away. She turned to me and smirked, "Maybe you should watch where you're going."
I catch up with her and soon I'm walking in perfect pace with her. I could hear her stomach growl from here. She coughed, trying to hide it but it was heard alright. You could hear it all the way to China.
"You're hungry, aren't you?" I say, knowing good and well that she was. She shook her head and said a stern, "no, I am not." And started to walk faster but since she was shorter than me I kept up with her without breaking a sweat.
I knew she was getting frustrated but I kept on anyway.
"Now Elena I know that's a lie. You're a terrible liar."
She ignored me and started to walk even faster.
"Elena, slow down." I'm still in sync with her. "Elena stop you can't keep hiding this. You're all bone and not even that." I started to get mad, but why? Why did I care about this girl I only just met? I didn't know her from Adams.
I grab her arm and pushed her against a building. "Now listen. I don't know what is going on but I care about you. Don't ask why because I couldn't tell you why. I just do. Now let me help you. You're not a charity case and you're more than a thief. You're a beautiful girl with some fixable problems. I can deal with that." I took a deep breath and just looked at her. She was breathing hard. I let her go, afraid I was hurting her.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you." I say, embarrassed that I said all that the way I did.
For a moment I didn't think she was going to say anything at all. She moved slowly. "Please don't walk off again." I sigh.
"I wasn't going to." She says softly.
"You didn't hurt me. You just surprised me."
"Surprised you?"
"Yeah," she shrugged. "It's just you didn't sound like yourself."
"What do you mean?" I asked confused.
"You didn't sound like a prince. You just sounded like another guy."
"Is that good or bad?" I asked.
"Not sure yet." She says and begins to walk away.
After all that she's the one leaving me speechless. She turned to look at me, "are you coming?" She asked.
I run to catch up with her. "Where are we going?"
"I don't know yet." She says.
