chapter Eight

***Elena's POV***

We're quickly walk into the hallway as quietly as four people can following each other. I hear a voice and hold my hand up to signal a stop but no one caught on and bumped into each other. I sighed, "okay this clearly isn't going to work."
They looked at me confused. "Johnny you scout the perimeter of the halls. No one is going suspect your up to something." He nods and heads the opposite way. "Joseph, you come with me."

"What about me?" Erica whispers.

"You need to go to William and keep him informed. No one knows we're here. People will come looking for you if they can't find you."

"But-"

"Go someone has to look after William. As much as I wish it could be me, It can't. You're our last hope."

She reluctantly nods and heads down the hall.

"Okay Joseph, you know what he looks like. I'll follow you."

"Elena."

"Yeah?"

"I have no idea where we're going. I never been here before."

I cursed silently under my breath. "Me neither." I looked down the hallways and couldn't figure out which one to choose. "They all look the same!" I groaned. "Go down this one." I pointed to the one Johnny went down and followed the hall.

We headed down the dark hallway and heard voices. We hide behind an open door and listened.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, stable boy?" I felt Joseph stiffen behind me.

"I-" Johnny stutters.

"Get the hell out of my way. Before you regret running into me." I hear a thud, it must be Johnny falling.

"I-I'm sorry, sir. Won't happen again, sir." I hear footsteps start to come this way.

"Stable boy."

"Y-yes, sir?" The footsteps stop at the room we were hiding in.

"Tell Lady Erica I have unfinished business with her. Make sure she knows to meet me in the Far East of the garden no later than seven tonight

. Move along, boy!"

"Yes-yes, sir. Right away, sir." Johnny scurries off.

"That's him." He whispers.

"Are you sure?"

He nods, "I can recognize that voice anywhere. I'll kill him." He growls, he heads for the door and I pull him back.

"We can't, not until we have a plan and if someone finds out that we killed him," I shudder at the thought of being thrown into another dungeon. He noticed my hesitates and his anger softens.

"All right. What are we going to do then?"

"I'll 'accidentally' put something in his drink that'll make him fall ill. That's when we'll attack."

"But how are we going to do that?"

"We're not. Erica is."

***

Back in the stables I let Johnny in on our plans.

"Absolutely not! I will not have Erica be put into danger!"

"Johnny! Either way she's in danger. If she doesn't go she'll get punished and she could be killed. But if she goes with a cup of poison she could kill him and he not even realize what's happening."

"I think this is a bad idea."

"Erica is being forced to marry a man she doesn't love and when that happens William is going to be killed and heaven knows what's going to happen when that horrid man gets what he wants!"

He thinks about this and I could see the anger burning in his eyes as he imagines what happens to Erica. "Fine. How soon can we start?"

"We have until seven to figure out. We've got to tell Erica."
