On the night of the fifth day (well more like the morning of the sixth day) I slipped down off the ledge and went back to my room. When I got there, I showered and dressed in a gray long shirt, black jeans, a black jean jacket with a sweat shirt hood, black converse and my Parental Advisory snapback. After I dressed, I causally walked into the kitchen, where Markus, Seth and Trip were sitting.
“Morning Ash,” Markus said.
“Hey,” I said, grabbing the coco pebbles and a bowl before pouring myself a bowl.
“That's it?” Seth burst out a minute after I sat down and started to eat. “You go missing for three days and when you come back all you say is hey?”
Markus groaned and I glared at Seth, “I didn't know you were my dad,” I said. “What are you going to do? Ground me?” Seth flinched. “Besides, why do you care? I don't need a babysitter. No one asked you to look out for me.”
Now it was Seth's turn to glare at me, “You're right, why should we care? You're just apart of this team,” Seth said as I kept eating. “This isn't Philly, you can't just wander off and not expect people to look for you.” Seth stood and looked at Trip. “I'll meet you in the lab,” he said before he walked out.
“You are not a people person,” Trip said after a minute, making them laugh.
“No, I'm not,” I said.
“Okay, at least you know,” Trip said, standing. “Later,” he said as he walked out of the kitchen.
“You should apologize,” Markus said.
“I don't even know why he's upset,” I protested.
Markus laughed, “Have you ever seen a movie or TV show, when the guy makes the girl really upset but he doesn't know what he did?” he asked. I nodded, “Well it's like that, except Seth's the pissed off girl and you're the really confused guy.”
I raised an eyebrow, “Are you trying to tell me something?” I asked with a smirk.
Markus laughed and lightly smacked me upside my head, “Just go and apologize,” he said.
“Later,” I said. “I'm eating.”
Markus laughed, “Alright,” he said.
“Don't you have, like a job or something?” I asked.
Markus laughed and tossed his hands up, “Okay, okay, I know when I'm not wanted, just don't forget to come down for testing,” he said, getting up and leaving.
I sat in the kitchen for about five minutes, until Amber walked in and ruined my morning.
“Oh, great, you're back,” Amber said when she saw me. “You're cute little game doesn't impress me.”
“Ditto,” I said, flipping Amber off when her back was turned.
“Excuse me?” Amber said.
“What?” I asked, looking up innocently.
“Never mind,” Amber said, shaking her head.
“‘You know,’” I said in a high pitch voice, “‘I hope Taven's realized what the rest of us already have and is going to swap her. She's not a Misfit. She never will be,’” Here, I paused and did an exaggerated hair flip. “‘She's too full of herself.’”
Amber stared at me in exaggerated outrage and let out a shriek that turned into a huff, “Freak,” she said. “You eavesdropped on our conversation.”
“Trust me, there was no eavesdropping going on. You talk so loud and your voice is so shrill and high pitch I think everyone here heard you,” I said as I finished my cereal.
I stood and grabbed everyone's dishes and my bowl before standing and walking towards the sink. When I was halfway to the sink, Amber slammed her shoulder into me and I spilled Seth's orange juice all over her sickeningly neon pink designer shirt.
“Oh. My. God. You freak,” she shrieked. “Do you know how much this shirt cost?”
I dropped the dishes into the sink and shrugged, “Nah, not really and I don't care. It's your own fault,” I said.
“You... you...” Amber said.
“Go on,” I said, smirking and raising an eyebrow.
“Arrrgggghhhh!” Amber stormed out of the room and Kelsey walked in.
“Sometimes, I wonder why she's a Misfit,” Kelsey said.
“Sometimes?” I asked.
“Well, wonder no more,” Kelsey said. “We're swapping her for my brother once you start to manifest.”
“Please tell me he isn't like Amber and Justin,” I pleaded. “Please, please, please.”
Kelsey laughed and nodded, “He isn't don't worry. He's my twin and Trip's best friend,” she said.
“Thank god,” I said.
Kelsey laughed, “You guys should get along,” she said. “He's flamboyant and eccentric.”
“Good, I like flamboyant and eccentric,” I said. “Those are two words I like.”
