Everyone let me hangout (hide) in my room until the morning of the next day and I was still feeling very proud of myself, but when Jack showed up in my room the next day around lunch, looking like a kicked puppy, I started feeling guilty.
“We’re sorry,” he said after I opened the door for him.
I held up my hand, “Don’t,” I said as Jack walked into the room with Seth, Trip and Kelsey, who stuck to the doorframe. “Just… no.”
“Taven said he didn’t mean to be angry,” Jack said.
I raised my eyebrows, “He didn’t mean to be angry?” I asked. “You’re such a child, Jack.”
Kelsey and Trip both glared at me and Seth shook his head, “Sorry,” Jack mumbled.
I sighed, “Whatever,” I said. “Get out.”
“Ash, please,” Kelsey said.
“Get out, now,” I said. “I want you to leave.”
Jack frowned, “You can’t just-“
“Out!” I snapped, pressing my face into the pillow.
The sound of shelves grinding against their supports and things crashing into the walls made me roll my eyes, “Uh… Ash?” Trip whispered.
I looked up a pillow next to my head flew across the room, “What do you want?” I yelled.
Seth slowly walked into the room and sat on the bed next to me, “Ashland, you need to calm down,” he said as he put a hand on my shoulder. “You’re manifesting.”
I looked around the room with wide eyes and Trip walked over, moved my pillow and sat down next to me, so I was squeezed between him and Seth, “You’re going to be okay,” Trip said. “You’ll just be a little… uncontrollable for a while.”
“Uncontrollable? How uncontrollable?” I asked.
“You won’t be able to control your powers,” Kelsey said. “They’ll turn on and off whenever they want. It’s most likely an emotional response.”
I ran a hand through my hair and groaned as I looked around my room. The contents of the box that Markus, Taven and Jack gave me were strewn across the room and my shelves were trashed. In one corner sat Academy, my teddy bear and I sighed before concentrating on him and imagining him in my hands.
“Holy… Did you just?” Jack mumbled as Academy landed in my arms and I pulled him closer to my chest. “Is that Academy?” he asked with a grin. I nodded and his grin grew, “I can’t believe you kept him! Is he still alright?”
