Emma Swan sat in her bedroom for a while, before getting on the bus for school. She was so upset, school would be better, if only she didn't have to go to math class with her horrible teacher, Mr. Gold. He was the most unfair, awful person ever. She was great at math but he still hated her and almost failed her when she did nothing wrong.

Emma's mom, Katherine Swan, called her down. "Emma, it's time to get to school!" She said. "Okay Mom! I'll be right down!" Emma replied.

Then she grabbed her book bag, got her sneakers, and went downstairs. Her dad, James Swan, was waiting for her. "What the hell took you so long?!" He asked, angrily. "Sorry, I had to grab all my stuff." Emma said. "Where'd Mom go?" She asked. "She left." James said. "Without saying goodbye? That's unusual." Emma said. "Yeah? Deal with it." James said. He slapped her on the arm. "Ow!" Emma said. "Go. Just go. Now." James said. Emma ran to the bus.

You see, James was very abusive to Emma, but Emma was too scared to tell anyone.

She got on the bus and sat alone, like she normally does. Right across from Regina, Belle, and Zelena. They never ever acknowledge Emma at all. She always feels lonely, so she just looks out the window. Emma doesn't have any real friends at her school, Storybrooke High School.

She got to school and went to her homeroom class, English. With Mary Margaret Nolan. "Hey Emma. Your here early." Mary Margaret said. "Yeah, I guess." Emma said. "Are you okay?" Mary Margaret asked. "Yeah, why?" Emma asked. "Well, you are acting strange. Also, you've got a bruise on your arm again." Mary Margaret said. "Oh." Emma pulled down her sleeve to cover it. "Emma, is your dad abusing you again?" Mary Margaret asked. "Yes." Emma answered, with tears in her eyes.

"Emma. We have to do something about this." Mary Margaret said. "No, Mrs. Nolan, you don't understand. My dad, he's so unreasonable. Talking to him only makes it worse." Emma said. "Okay, fine. Promise me you'll tell me if you want help?" Mary Margaret asked. "Promise." Emma said. Then Emma sat at her desk and studied until the bell rang.

Emma sat at her usual lunch table, alone. She ate her lunch, started to read a book, and studied. She started to think about her next class, math.

Couldn't she just skip it? No, she knew if she did her dad would hurt her again, and her mom would be disappointed. She waited for the bell to ring and then left lunch. She waited in the bathroom for a little bit, before going to math.

She walked into a classroom without a teacher. It was super unusual, considering Mr. Gold was always 10 minutes early anyway. Then a tall guy with black hair, eyes bluer than the ocean, who looked only about 22 walked into the classroom.

"Hey guys, sorry, I got a bit lost. Big school." He said as he laughed. 'Where is Gold? Who is this guy?' Emma thought. "I...am...Mr. Jones." He wrote on the board. He turned around and said, "I'm your new teacher." He said. Then, Belle raised her hand. "Yes?" Mr. Jones asked. "Where's Mr. Gold?" Belle asked. "Yes, about that. He was on a cruise and a crocodile attacked him. Tragic, truly. He is in the hospital." Mr. Jones explained. A lot of people gasped. "Okay then. Time to take attendance. Forgive me if it takes me a while to remember your names." Mr. Jones said. Emma didn't want to admit it but Mr. Jones was pretty hot. 'He doesn't look that old.' Emma thought to herself. Mr. Jones read off a list of names. Emma didn't talk to most of them, and only listened to the tone of response on a few. "Belle French." Mr. Jones said. "I'm here." Belle said, highly interested. "Okay, good." Mr. Jones said. A few names later, "Regina Mills." And, "Zelena Mills."

Regina seemed completely uninterested, but Zelena giggled a little. "Ruby Lucas." No response, but Ruby was looking up and down at Mr. Jones, and just raised her hand. Then, "Emma Swan." Mr. Jones said. "Here." Emma said, a little too quickly. A couple of names later, he was done. The last names being "Hannah Wayne" and "Alyssa Wayne".
