Killian's POV:
My breath caught in my throat. "Um, now?" I asked her. "Mhm." She said. "Do you not want to?" She asked, worry and disappointment spread across her face. "No, of course I want to, but-" I started to say, before she cut me off. "Then why don't we?" She asked, confused and pleading. I took a deep breath. "You haven't had alcohol since you and Neal, and that is a long time. Your tolerance has gone down and you're drunk. You're not thinking clearly and I don't want to take advantage of you." I told her. "I am so not drunk." She replied. "Swan, you definitely are, at least a little." I told her. "Let's go home, I'll get you coffee or something." I suggested. "Fine." She gave in.On the drive home it was deadly silent. I pulled up in the driveway and stopped the car. I brought her inside and started making coffee.
"So..." I said, trying to break the silence. "So?" She asked, sitting on the couch. I handed her the coffee. "Here." I said. "Thanks." She replied.
There was another silence. I was trying to think about what to say, but I was at a loss for words. Then an idea popped into my head.
"Hey, Emma, how about we check out the haunted house. It might be fun." I suggested. She thought about it for a minute. "Yeah, sure." She replied. After she drank her coffee I asked, "Ready?" "Are we going like this?" She asked, motioning to our costumes. "Do you want to?" I asked. "Why not." She said. "Less work." She muttered. I suppressed a smile. "Okay, let's go." She said, after putting her mug in the sink.
Emma's POV:
We got in the car and drove to the haunted house in silence. I feel awful. I'm thinking straight again, and I just messed everything up. I looked out the window, watching the scenery change."We're here, love." Killian told me, turning off the car. "Okay." I replied, getting out.
We walked up to the ticket line and bought two tickets. "Enjoy." The ticket guy said mundanely.
"Ready?" Killian asked me, before we walked in. "Yeah." I replied. We stepped through the entrance. Immediately, a huge fake spider dropped from the ceiling. Of course I jumped, I hate spiders. But of course Killian had almost no reaction, except for laughing at me.
"Hey, something will get you, watch out, tough guy." I said. Numerous turns after many things popped out. All of them scared the shit out of me. Then we got to the part with actual people.
No better. We walked through, and walked about two feet. Someone hiding in the corner behind us jumped out.
"Holy shit!" I yelled, falling from sheer fright. Killian helped me up, while I was stumbling in front of me, trying to get away from the asshole in a mask. Hey, it was a very convincing mask. As I was stumbling as fast as I could in front of me, someone in very convincing make-up stood in front of me. It looked like she had no eyes and blood was spilling out from the sockets. That me on the floor once again, letting many swear words slip out too.
They finally went somewhere else, who knows where. Hopefully to hell. Killian helped me up once again. "Watch the language, Swan. It's bad form to swear." He said teasingly.
"Oh shut up. I don't think I can do this." I said looking around. "Oh, don't worry Swan. It's not real." He told me. "And I've got you." He added, smiling lightly in the dim room.
A ton of other people jumped out and made me crash into Killian. One person tried chasing me with a freaking chainsaw, even thought I was stumbling, close to falling on my face. At that point, Killian gave up and just picked me up, while my face was buried in his chest. He finally set me down at the end of the hallway.
"Don't worry, no more people here." He told me. "Good, they were jerks." I said. We entered this really weird green screen room. The lights started flickering and the green screen turned to static. Then everything went dark.
The lights came on, bright as ever. The static had turned to a cliff. Any way you turned it was the edge of a cliff. Then, something jolted us forward, and the cliff screen was a moving scenery. We were falling.
I felt myself move downwards. I looked down, and the floor had turned into rocky waters. I heard Killian scream, but barely over my own.
Then it was over. Everything went black again. Doors opened to reveal shadows. We walked through and saw a man next to a lamp. We slowly walked through, I was obviously as far away as possible. Killian being my human shield away from the guy. He slowly turned on the lamp. His face was like a distorted vampire and he had a freaking bloody ax in his hand.
We spotted a blinking exit sign to the left. I sprinted to it, Killian behind me. Right before I made it to the exit sign, a person popped out from behind a box with a gun. This send me tumbling backwards on the floor. I swore a lot. Killian had managed to get in front of me, and I got up and jumped onto his back. Then I clung to him as hard as I could. The exit sign had moved a few feet to the right. He turned quickly and sprinted to the exit.
He ran out the exit door and it was over. "You can get down now, love." He said, walking into the main lobby. "I don't really want to." I said into his neck.
I stayed on his back. "Did you enjoy it?" An usher asked. "Yeah, it was cool." Killian said. "No, the people were assholes." I mumbled. I don't think they heard me though. I know Killian did though, because he laughed to himself. "Hey, how did you do the whole falling thing?" He asked.
"Oh, an elevator and a whole lot of green screen." The usher answered. "Cool." Killian said. "Well I'm glad you enjoyed it. Have a nice night." The usher said. We- or rather- Killian walked outside with me on his back. The air felt so good. I finally had to get off of him to get in the car.
"What'd you think?" He asked. "I think I died." I answered. "How did you enjoy that? That was terrifying." I said. "That's the point, love." He answered.
"You got scared at the falling part." I teased him. "You got scared at every part." He replied. We both laughed. "Those poor people, you swore at them so much." He said. "They deserved it. Who chases someone on the brink of falling?" I said. I did hate those people.
We got to his house and it was around 1 a.m. We were both really exhausted. "We shod get some sleep, Swan." He said. "Okay." I replied. He got into his bed and I laid down on the couch. But, I got scared again when I closed my eyes because I kept thinking about the haunted house.
I ended up going into Killian's room. "Killian?" I whispered. "Yeah?" He asked. "I'm scared. Can I sleep in here?" I asked, feeling like a four year old again. "Of course, love." He said, moving over. I laid down next to him and naturally leaned into him. He wrapped his arms around me and we fell asleep.
