Emma woke up to a very bright light shining in her face. There was a doctor standing over her checking her pupillary response.
"She's recovering just fine," the doctor said to the nurse who was standing by him. She wrote some stuff down on her clipboard.
All of a sudden Emma's whole body thrusted back against the hospital bed as memories from yesterday started plunging through her mind.
She was huddled in the corner of Mr.Jones's class room along with her other class mates. She could hear her father's footsteps coming down the hallway very fast, but then they stopped. He had found him, and he was going to hurt him.
He shot the door handle a couple of times and Emma could hear it drop to the floor. He was pushing on the door as hard as he could, but he could barely move it. The kids had stacked several desks in front of the door to keep him out.
However he some how mustered the strength to push the door all the way open. He was now standing right in front of Mr.Jones pointing the gun straight at his head.
Emma stood up and slowly walked over to her dad. "Don't do this Dad. It wasn't even his fault, it was mine," she said. He turned his head to look at her. His eyes were darker than she had ever seen them. She slowly backed away and went over next to Mr.Jones.
"NOBODY INVITED YOU TO COME WIGGLE YOUR WAY INTO MY FAMILY, AND CAUSE MY DAUGHTER TO DISOBEY ME!!" James screamed at Mr.Jones. "I NEVER SAID THAT YOU COULD TEACH HER HOW TO DRIVE A CAR, AND BECAUSE OF THAT, YOU WILL PAY!!!" He shot the gun straight above Mr.Jones's head, barely missing.
"STOP IT DAD! YOU DONT HAVE TO SHOOT HIM! IF YOU DO THIS THEN YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL! DO YOU REALLY WANT THAT?" Emma yelled at James. His eyebrows furrowed.
"DO YOU THINK I CARE ABOUT THAT EMMA? ALL I WANT IS TO MAKE SURE THAT HE SUFFERS, AND I WILL BE DAMNED IF HE DOESN'T!" James screamed back at her. He pointed the gun at Mr.Jones's heart and he shot the gun.
Emma lunged towards Mr.Jones trying to block the bullet, but it was too late. He had been shot by her father. He instantly fell to the ground, completely unconscious. Then Emma followed. Her breathing became heavier and her vision went black, the last thing she felt was the freezing cold tile on her face.
"HE'S DEAD!! HE KILLED HIM!!" Emma screamed as she came back to reality. Tears were streaming down her face. She was screaming and crying.
"Ma'am you need to calm down," the doctor calmly said.
"HOW CAN I CALM DOWN WHEN HE IS DEAD?" Emma yelled. She didn't care what the doctor said. She finally felt like she had a friend when she was with Mr.Jones. Yeah she had Mrs.Nolan, but she was more of a mother figure to Emma. With Killian she could be herself, and now he was gone. Now she had nobody.
"Who is dead?" The doctor asked.
"Mr.Jones, my math teacher. My dad shot him," Emma replied.
"Your father was the shooter?" She heard the nurse whisper. The doctor gave her a stern look, he obviously didn't want her to talk.
"Mr.Jones," the doctor said as he looked through the names of people who were admitted to the hospital around the time Emma was last night. "Killian Jones. Room 115, he was admitted at the same time you were last night. It's your lucky day Emma, looks like your teacher survived."
