Emma ran to David and Mary Margaret's house. "Emma, what happened?" David asked. "Killian, my mom, ugh!" Were the only words that Emma could say. "Come in." David said. "Need water?" He asked. Emma nodded, sitting down.
"Emma, what happened?" Mary Margaret asked. "Well, where to start?" Emma asked. "What happened? First thing that comes to mind." Mary Margaret said. "Killian got arrested today, or he's on 'probation' because my mom tipped off the police." Emma said. "Why did he get arrested?" Mary Margaret asked. "Um, about that." Emma said, not wanting to admit what happened. She couldn't talk, she showed them the photo. "Emma, what were you two doing?" Mary Margaret asked. "Nothing! Literally, we were talking about what to do next!" Emma explained.
"Okay, so now what?" Mary Margaret asked. "I guess we plan ahead. Way ahead this time." David said.
Emma's phone got a message from her mom. He's on probation. You can't see him still.
"He's on probation right now, he can't leave his house." Emma explained. "Okay, so what is there to do?" Mary Margaret asked. "What do you need help with?"
David asked. That was a good point. They couldn't help Killian, but she needed help. "My mom. I think she left, and if I can't legally stay with you, I have nowhere to go.""Emma, stay with us. If anyone asks, it's completely fine to have a little fun. A few day sleepover." Mary Margaret said, winking. That was a great point. It's like an extended sleepover. David nodded. "Clever." He whispered to Mary Margaret.
"I'll go pack." Emma said, walking home.
When she got home, her mom left a note.
Fine, you little slut. I released the restraining order, but you must have a police escort to see your 'friend'. His name is Jake Peterson, and his number is +1(582)719-2834. I'm gone now, hope your happy. I can't deal with this-or you right now. Your dad was the only one who really knew how to deal with you.
-Katherine (Not Mom)
Emma couldn't believe her Mom said that. She grabbed all her stuff and ran back to her real house. She showed Mary Margaret and David the note. "Thats awful!" They both said. Emma rolled her eyes and threw the note out.
"I'm going to see Killian." Emma said, calling Jake, her police escort.
"Hello?" He said.
"Mr. Peterson?" Emma asked.
"Yeah." He replied.
"I'm going to Mr. Jones' house. You're my police escort." Emma explained.
"Okay, I'll be right over." He said.
-Phone Disconnected-She got to his house and Jake was already there. "Hi." He said. "Hey." Emma said back.
They knocked on the door and Killian answered it. He saw the police escort and knew what it meant, complete formality. "Hi, Ms. Swan." He said. "Hi, Mr. Jones." Emma said, awkwardly. "You've come to visit?" Killian asked. "Yes." Jake answered for her. "Would you like to come in?" Killian asked. "Sure." Emma said.
After about 10 minutes of awkward small talk and formality, Jake said, "I'll be outside for a minute." Leaving them alone. Emma and Killian both took a deep breath and relaxed. Then started laughing. "Sorry, that was awkward, wasn't it?" Emma said. Killian nodded. After they had calmed down, Emma asked, "Seriously, how are you?" Killian responded, "I'm fine, I mean- as good as I can be." "I'm sorry." Emma said. "For what? Honestly Emma, I'm proud of you really now." He said. "Why?" Emma asked, confused. "How your holding up. I know I'm only 22 and I don't really know much about it, but you're being really adult about this." He explained. "Thanks." Emma said, not sure what else to say. "Considering you can leave my house, I forgot something in my classroom. Can you get it?" He asked. "Sure what is it?" Emma asked. "The only thing on my desk." Killian said, laughing a little. "I guess you'll have to wait and see." He said. "Okay." Emma said. She went outside, and told Jake that she'll be right back.
