Pov: Angel

Lounging on the couch with Victor, I watch as Nathan and Gabriel cuddle a tired Sang on the opposite side of the couch and a tired Silas napped on the recliner. North was barely able to stay in the same room with me but was willing to if there wasn't more than three of his brothers with Sang while I was in the same room. He thankfully realized that the others weren't going to move and took the opportunity to go and check the cars and run a few diagnostics on Silas's. Doctor Green and Mr. Blackbourne had disappeared after dinner saying that they had to talk yet their can was still in the driveway, letting me know that they were probably upstairs somewhere talking about what was going on, in other words, me. Kota, thankfully seemed to be the only one that wasn't avoiding me but had returned home to go see his mother and sister for a family movie night.

"How do you do it?" Victor questions softly, causing me to glance over to him. Studying his perfectly styled brown hair and white crisp shirt, I look back to the three some cuddling in the corner of the room. What the fuck do I say to that? "I mean..." Victor pauses trying to form words. "How do you work alone even in dangerous situations without a team?"

Taking a minute, I focus on the giggling escaping from Sang's lips which causes Gabriel's smile to grow. "When I said trust earlier," I state glancing to Silas whose eyes are now focused on me. "When Sang asked me why I didn't work with a group, I wasn't lying. If I can't trust the person behind me to watch my back why even have them standing there?"

Brushing my hair back, I pull my feet up onto the couch as the words set in. "What happens if you get stuck or caught?" Silas whispers and I meet those old eyes.

"It's my job to get myself out of that situation." I smirk reaching up to rub the bullet whole in my shoulders. "Not always the best option or the safest but fuck I know that I can rely on my body." I hear the giggling of Sang once more and I can't help but smirk as I watch Nathan tickle the small girl. "I have something to keep living for and I am not going to leave this world until I am ready." I glance to Victor and lightly bump his arm. "Don't worry. I have you covered."

Seeing a bit of relief slip through Victor's eyes, I watch as he nods before I carefully stand and head to the front door. Taking in the fresh air of dusk, my alone time is quickly interrupted as my pocket begins to vibrate like crazy. Frowning, I push the talk button and hold the speaker up to my ear.

"Rainbows."

"Pizza."

Rolling my eyes, I take a seat on the front steps staring at the house in front of me with boarded up windows and no lights. "What's up Doc?" I smirk thinking of the old time cartoons I used to watch as the familiar voice of Dr. Roberts makes its way through the phone.

"How is it going with the Blackbourne team?" He questions and I frown twirling a strand of air through my fingers trying to control my anger. This was a bad sign.

"What did they ask you Doc?" I question, allowing my head to rest in my hand trying to think of the different things that Blackbourne and Green could possibly want to know.

"They asked about your gun shot wounds." Biting my lip hard, I pull hard on my hair and let out an rough breath of anger. Why couldn't they just fucking ask? To go around my back. Hadn't I just made it clear that trust was something that I had trouble with and they fucking...

"Got it." I bark standing from my seat and pacing slightly. "Anything else?"

"Look, Izzy, I have worked with Dr. Green before. They are trying to protect their team. They are a high level group in the Academy. You might be seeing something different but they are known for their work and professionalism. If they are looking into you they are interested. It's not always a bad thing." Doc states keeping his tone calming as he tries to give me information to help but I know that he is only trying to calm me down.

"Thanks Doc... and its Angel this time." I correct smirking slightly at the old man's purposeful mistake.

"Bye Izzy." Doc whispers and clicks off the phone. Staring at the phone for a second more, letting my original name hang in the air just a little while longer, I take a slow deep breath of calm, hoping it will help.

"You good?" The quiet voice of Silas pulls me from my thoughts and I turn from my spot on the front lawn and look to the male.

"Honestly? I want to fucking punch Blackbourne and Green." I state straight out gaging the giant's reaction.

"Will you?" He questions studying me and I frown shaking my head.

"No." I state moving to follow him back into the house. "But I now have something to discuss at our family meeting now."
