Letting out a grunt, I pull away from Dr. Green whose eyes widen in worry. "No more doc." I whisper making my way past Sang whose eyes are watering as she offers me my shirt. Ignoring her look, I pull on my shirt pulling away and moving to the font door. My body trembles from Dr. Green's inspection but I try to ignore it as I close the front door behind me.
Taking a seat on the front steps, my eyes wonder around the front yard. Something was happening to me and I couldn't place a finger on what and it was fucking driving me crazy. Not only had I been harmed by two assailants on this mission, which was fucking normal, unfortunately in my line of work... it fucking felt different. These boys and... this girl...Running a hand through my hair, I glance up at the sound of footsteps.
"Miss. Black," Mr. Blackbourne's voice is even with a questioning undertone. My name... god fucking damnit that was all that was required. Not even my full name... not even my real name.. Meeting his soft grey eyes, I could already tell what he was thinking before he even voiced it. He was worried about me not about what I had done. Fuck when had I allowed them to get so close to me.
"I'm fine." I grunt clearly ignoring his pointed look as I stand and open the front door for the male. "Let's have this meeting so that I can go back to my attic." Mr. Blackbourne's eyes narrow but I ignore the pointed look and take a seat on the couch as the others enter into the living room. My eyes automatically scan over each boy but then land on Nathan who chooses to stay in the door way his eyes directly focused on me.
Letting out a slow breath, I look to Mr. Backbourne who stood at the center of the room. "Report." He states his eyes lingering on the boys that line the room along with Sang and myself.
"Mom promised she wouldn't say anything about Angel but it is clear she isn't happy with us." Kota states breaking the silence that had spread through the room. "She wants to make sure that Victor and Nathan stop in at least once a week. She doesn't like that the Academy hasn't kept their fathers at bay for longer. And to be honest I agree with her." My eyes snap to Kota whose eyes look cold. Damn his father too. Fuck me.
"She is right. If this can happen to Vic or Nate it can happen to any of us." Silas states putting a hand on Luke's shoulder and I sigh. Damn Luke's as well. Why the hell was none of this fucking in their files? I mean really abusive fathers would have been a wonderful warning to have. Nice bold letters on the top of their files.
"I agree Mr. Lee and I have reported to the Academy of our run ins...." He pauses looking at me. It takes me a moment to connect his words.Fuck that meant that Boss will be contacting me for a damage report. Letting out a groan, I rub my forehead. Just what I needed.
"What does that mean Angel?" Gabe questions his voice hardening and I glance around the room. Once more all eyes are on me. Damn this was still happening to often.
"Depends." I sigh leaning back against the couch trying not to focus on those possibilities. "I won't know until he gives me a call."
"Worst case?" My eyes land on North and I shrug rubbing my arm. Damn of course they would want to focus on it though.
"I will be moved else where." The words sting my lips and I cringe already hating the idea but it wouldn't be my call anyways. Allowing my eyes to flicker around the room, I am surprised to find anger and worry written on others faces. It is Nathan that my eyes are drawn to though the combination of anger and hurt are written on his face.
"But it wasn't fucking your fault!" He shouts his eyes morphed with pain. "None of it was! You were just doing your job! You couldn't have known any of this was going to happen! Fuck all you have done is fucking help. You saved Vic and Sang multiple times. Hell you saved all of us. None of us have been able to work so smoothly with each other until you arrived. Plus you got us information to put McCoy away and Hendricks behind bars." I watch as Nathan's eyes flair with even more pain but I manage a small smile. This earns me a confused look.
"Orders are orders." I state looking to Sang who looks surprised as my attention switches. "But for ghost birds, we choose which missions we go on. Who we stay in contact with." I glance to the others before looking back to Sang. "Who we make friends with." My eyes graze over the others and land on Gabe for a moment and then Silas and then Dr. Green.
Who we can trust.
"I might be gone for a while but I don't disappear and I definitely don't leave things fucking incomplete." I look to Mr. Blackbourne who nods. "Let's put these animals behind bars. For good."
