I can't really tell
whether the sun
is dipping
or rising anymore.
the two look awfully
similar,
and the sun's grown fond
of tricking me,
by rising for just
a brief moment
in time
and then
abruptly
going down again.
one moment it's contently
rising to bring about
a hope-filled day,
and the second I decide
to turn my back,
when I swivel
on my heal again
to check if all is well,
a dying sunset meets my eyes.
it's getting hard to see
in the unstable light -
constantly switching from bright
to completely off
now and then,
and in between
I can't tell
if it's bright enough
to reveal the road ahead,
or just too dim
to really be certain
of anything.
there is no balance
of light and dark
in the sky anymore,
the world beneath
that once
relied on its pattern
is so confused
and chaos
has taken over
the ways of the beings
that roam it.
the stability has evaporated
from the atmosphere
and the hearts
of the living,
and the bizarre,
obscurity of the sun's
relentless actions
has become all
they
know.
