"One day you meet someone and for some inexplicable reason, you feel more connected to this stranger than anyone else"

I woke up early the following morning.

Today is going to be my first day at work.

I decided to make myself some  salad to pack and have it as lunch.
Preparing a nice caesar salad with extra parmesan cheese because who doesn't love cheese, I changed into a pair of leggings and a navy blue tank top.
Taking out my Ipod, I slipped in my earphones.
I always loved outdoor exercising and running rather than going to a gym. I loved the fresh air. Observing the nature and all other minuscule details was one of my favourite things to do. When I was a kid, I used to watch alot of Animal Planet and Discovery Channel. The nature, animals, birds and in short wildlife made me happy. There were so many species and all with different features! I dreamt of being a wildlife photographer in South Africa and accompanying Mike and Mark. They were my inspiration back then.

The park was full of people like every other day. I began running and after 40 minutes or so my controlled inhaling and exhaling turned into uncontrolled gasps. To steady myself, I took a seat at the nearest bench.
Relaxing myself, I felt something tugging at my leg. Looking down, I not just saw a pair of big grey eyes looking back but a marvelous grin beneath.

It was the cutest chocolate labrador puppy!

"Hey there, little Devil" I whispered while taking him up on my lap. He woofed in response making me smile. Listening to happy woof sounds of a dog was similar to discovering hidden treasures!
He was sprawled across my lap and wagged its tail with hopeful eyes.

"Aren't you just the cutest?" I said while scratching his ears.

"But you still called him a Devil" a husky voice replied.

Turning arround to see who the stranger was, my heart skipped a beat.
He was the most attractive guy I've seen; tall almost 6'2, wearing a white muscle tank with black sweatpants. He was well-built and had a toned body, not too much muscles but enough for him to pass the "hot" test. Who am I kidding? Pass, he'll probably ace the test. What caught my attention was not just his physique but his eyes. His eyes reminded me of the ocean. They weren't blue or green but a mixture of the two. I could look into his eyes forever!

Back to reality Ash!

"Isn't he a cute devil?" I replied shyly.

The stranger was smirking. He definitely caught me checking him out. Ughh! Why couldn't I be subtle about it! He might've been attractive but I wanted to wipe the smirk off his face.

"Yeah, he is one."  "Got him just a week back" he added.

"Ohh. I'm sorry. It just came up to me with big hopeful eyes and I couldn't resist" I tried explaining him.

"Well, he belongs to me. Why don't you go and buy yourself a dog instead of stealing mine?"

That jerk. Why can't attractive guys be sweet? Do they always have to be so arrogant?

"For starters, if it belongs to you, shouldn't you be keeping an eye on him and taking care of him? He's too young and can get lost in the park whilst you're busy boosting your ego"

"I sure do have a reason to boast my ego" he smirked.

"That dick belongs in your pants and not in your personality" I scoffed.

"Damn. That was quick" he commented inbetween his laughs.

I gave him a perplexed look.

"Sorry, sorry. I thought you'll start apologizing or something and just wanted to see your reaction at my rude remark. Didn't think you'll be this feisty" he grinned.

"Try me." I smiled.

Where did this sudden confidence come from? I'm glad that I took a stand for myself instead of apologizing when it wasn't even my fault.

"I guess Cocoa likes you" he said looking down at his dog which was still on my lap.

"He's cute. The name suits him well" I smiled.

"Yeah"

Our eyes met and I started to get this wierd jittery feeling in my stomach. His eyes will make me go crazy!

Our little moment was disturbed as my phone began to ring. Its was Elena.

"Where the hell are you? Its almost 9" she was literally shouting.

"Shit. I didn't realize. Be there in 10" I spoke hurriedly.

It was 8.50am. I wasn't even dressed yet.

He must've heard my conversation with Elena as he called Cocoa to him to which the dog happily responded with a woof!

Waving a quick goodbye, I rushed to my house. After taking a quick shower, I just threw on a baby pink T-shirt dress, grabbed my lunch and some money and left. I was already late so I decide to take a cab to the café.

On arriving at the café, I checked the time. 9.15am. I was 15 minutes late on my very first day. That's so unprofessional.

"Make sure you're on time from tomorrow" Rohit mentioned sternly.

"Sorry, won't happen again." I apologized.

I rushed to my counter and started entering the orders and collecting the money. There weren't many people in here today.

I had to be on time from tomorrow or else they might even fire me. Rohit maybe friendly but he's the owner of this café and he won't stand such tardiness!

Even amongst all these thoughts, my mind kept displaying a pair of greenish blue eyes. I didn't even catch his name. All I know about him is that he has a cute labrador called Cocoa.
Even if I want to I won't be able to find him again. New York is a big city and the chances of meeting him again is very rare.

If only she knew!

So finally the male lead has decided to show up!
She couldn't catch his name but there's always a second time right? ;)
