"The mountains are calling and I must go."

"My back still hurts." Derek narrowed his eyes at me.

"Karma is a bitch, Derek." I smiled smugly.

I woke up because of silly Parker's loud knocks on our door at 5.00 in the morning. Derek was still sound asleep so it was time for a little payback. I still remember he pushed me off the bed in Manhattan so its my turn now. Naturally, I kicked him off the bed making him fall with a loud thud along with the bursting of a few balloons since the whole room was filled with them and it may have hurt him a little.

"So how far is it?" I asked Ashton who was walking right ahead of us.

"We've just started. We should be at the top in an hour." He replied.

Parker did have a reason to wake me up. We were supposed to go on an early morning trek at the top of the mountain and probably even swim in the waterfall up there.
That should've been Parker's idea as he was the only one who knew how much I loved trekking and travelling. It takes up a huge place in my heart. People assume trekking to be just walking until you reach a destination but for me, it was like a challenge. To hike your way up with weight on your shoulders along with the sun blazzing above you. It lets you connect with the nature, find yourself in it and obviously the best view comes after the hardest climb.
It was still a little dark outside so if we're lucky we may even be able to catch the sun rise from the top.

The path wasn't so steep so it was an easy climb as it was more of a walking bit right now. We were surround by woods and the only noise we could hear was the crushing of leaves beneath our feet and falling of the stones.

I guess sometimes you just need an adventure to cleanse the bitter taste of life from your soul.

"By the way Ashley, isn't that Derek's shirt?" Ashton asked making me groan.

Yes, I was wearing the same clothes from last night because we were coming back at the resort for breakfast as they had something else planned so I'll be wearing my own shirt then.

"Yes it is. A prior notice of a one night trip would've been appreciated." I rolled my eyes.

"One night? Its a two night trip." Charlotte mentioned.

"What?" I shouted and loosing my balance in the process.

"Easy there drama queen. Watch your steps." Derek smirked catching me by my waist.

I mumbled a quick thank you and started walking fast. Now, I have no idea why was I running away from him but he was making me feel things I shouldn't be feeling in the first place. He would always make my heart skip a beat by his actions, make me laugh and wipe away my tears.
Thats what a bestfriend does right? Only a bestfriend? Its nothing romantic Ash.
Stop overthinking.

"Boy drama." Parker mumbled throwing his arms around my shoulder.

"Whats life without a little drama?" I tried diverting the topic.

"Yeah. Make sure that I always have the front row seats for all the drama going on in your life."

"Glad they amuse you." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Definitely." He smirked.

The sun was begining to rise and it surprised me that the valley was filled with colourful flowers, all seemed to be blooming and dancing with happiness. Times like these often makes us realise how pure nature is. The woods seemed never ending and it felt as if they were holding a lot of secrets.
You can always clear your mind with a small trek.
