26: Past

Perhaps they're right when they say that the past never leaves. It keeps on haunting you until everything you've achieved slowly starts to fade right in front of your eyes.

Its also true when people say to not trust everyone. Everyone's just curious and nobody is actually concerned about the stuff happening to you. They're just here to be a part of your life. Just a chapter in your book.

I let my guard down and let myself feel alive, happy and carefree.
Good things don't really last much, do they?

Years back, something similar happened and now, years later, I can see history repeating itself and the only difference was this time it hurt much more as the person I lost was my bestfriend, my motivator, my support system, the person behind my happiness and also my reason to feel alive.

Derek.

Ever felt something so profoundly wonderful that when it was taken from you, your world came crashing down? Mine definitely did.

Seeing her arms wrapped around Derek's neck and him pulling her close to her to kiss her was enough to make me want to puke.

All of us including Parker were at a club. He was only here for two weeks so after my shift, we would visit different places everyday. The rest also joined us most of the times. This saturday, Parker was in the mood for clubbing so naturally we all agreed. Only thing which changed was Derek was getting his girlfriend. He met her outside his house and they somehow hit it off. I was really excited to see her! Who knew she'll be the one to ruin my life, all over again.

The minute, I decide to have something in life, she'll come to drain out all the happiness in my life. Sometimes, I feel like she's a dementor sucking off all the happiness from my life. First, Ben and now Derek.

She lied to him that she just moved here from California and that her name was Emma. Surprising? I guess not.

I felt Parkers hand on mine making me look up to him.
"Lets get out of this place." He whispered in my ear.

"No." I mumbled.

"Alright. Come with me then." He said pulling me up and we excused ourselves.

"What the fuck is she doing here?" He shouted.

"Her usual business of snatching people from me."

"Listen to me Ashley, Derek doesn't know the truth. The minute he finds out she's Emily, he'll dump her."

"No. I don't want him to know. Not yet. What if they actually like each other?"

"Really?" He said sacrcastically.

"I know but I don't want him to judge her on what she's done to me."

"Done? She's fucking doing it all over again?" He lashed out.
"I'm going to fucking kill her. How dare she come for you again? That bitch really needs someone to knock sense into her. That desperate fucking.."

"Okay okay." I cut him off.

"You like him right?" Parker asked.

"I don't know." I confessed still confused.

"You do Ashley. I can see it in your eyes that you love him and before you deny saying as a bestfriend, I know its more than that."

"I do feel something. Just one hug from him makes me forget about all my problems, he makes me laugh, motivates me, gets me chocolate ice cream." I chuckled and added "Is this love?"
