You were beginning to regret every decision you'd ever made once you stepped into the theater. The anxious feeling you'd been pushing away for weeks finally bubbled to the surface and covered your skin in goosebumps, making you shiver in the air conditioning. Of course you were excited; how could you not be? Some of your best friends who you had not seen for years would be here today.
Yet, somehow, they were also the cause of your jittery hands.
What and if's circled through your mind, making every possible scenario script itself out alongside the questions. So many things could be different. You knew some things were different. Such as yourself; when on broadway a few years back, you'd been the short, pudgy girl who didn't look like she would be able to do a split. Now, you were thinner and taller, with shorter hair and fat in more of the right places. Even underneath the surface, there were changes.
There were also new cast members; those just casted by Disney, those from the closing Broadway cast, those from the touring cast.
Through the nerves jumbled your mind, they didn't mess up your path. You were now standing inside the rehearsal room, eyes flickering around the room for a familiar face. A few people glanced up at you, offering smiles and telepathic greetings from their eyes. You recognized a silhouette near the back of the room, and took a step towards them when you heard a squeal sound from behind you.
You spun around to face Kara, who was jumping up and down and reaching out for you. "Y/N!" She yelled, pouncing on you in a hug. By now, the entire room was watching the two of you, triggering old cast mates to cheer loudly and crowd around you.
You hugged everyone in sight, accepting the compliments and greetings thrown about miscellaneously. The last person you spoke to held tightly to your waist and shoved their head into the crook of your neck. Immediately, you knew that stature.
"Andy," the one person you missed the most. To say the least, there had been a fling back when Newsies was on Broadway. But once it ended, and the two of you went to different shows, you lost connection. You missed the feel of his arms around you, so this made everything so much better.
He kissed your cheek sloppily, running his hands down your arms and into yours. Andy stepped back to look at you, eyes brightening at the sight of the brand new you.
"You look even better than the last time I saw you," his eyes met you, and two of you blushed.
"Hopefully," you pulled him back into a hug, "Ive been to the gym and Sephora too many times for this to be the same old."
He laughed into your shoulder before you were pulled into a seat. The first rehearsal ran quickly, simply being songs reintroduced to everyone. Throughout, you noticed Andy's eyes on you a lot. You couldn't say anything, though, as you had been stealing your own glances. It seems old sparks can even be lit up again.
Before you left, you ventured over to where Andy was grabbing his backpack and hugged him again. When you turned to finally leave, he grabbed your hand and twisted you around to face him.
"Do you wanna get coffee?"
Now you were sitting in a booth, Andy across from you and a cup of tea steaming in your hands. Neither of you spoke, but instead, occasionally looked at the other. When you caught eyes and blushed, he spoke.
"So," he tapped a finger against the table, "I guess I was going to say let's catch up. But that's a dumb thing to say considering the way both of us are feeling."
He knew. He always knew. But you didn't. "What are we feeling?"
He sighed, "Okay, I hope." You both nervously laughed. "No, but in all seriousness, I think we're feeling the way we used to. When we still knew each other."
"Used to?" You furrowed your brows, "Andy, if the feeling you're talking about is love, than it's not something I used to feel. It never away, so there's no possibility of it being a past type of thing. Andy, I never stopped loving you."
He quickly slid into the booth beside you, "Oh, thank God. I thought it would be totally creepy if I came straight out and said 'I love you', like I thought you'd moved on or something."
"No," i gripped his hand, "I could never move on from you."
"So I can kiss you?" His eyes flickered to your lips, his hand slipping onto your cheek.
You laughed, "Yes, Mr. Dorkupine, you can kiss me."
